we check out one of the coolest sleepers i've personally ever driven! this is a base model BA XT Ford Falcon and man is this just so much fun! This has a XR6 Turbo engine swap and the DOSE! is INSANE lol

- Turbo barra converted from a ba xr6 turbo
- Turbo btr 4 speed
- Turbo lsd
- Walbro 255 fuel pump
- Turbo injectors
- Hdi intercooler
- Custom intercooler piping
- ba f6 turbo
- makes around 400hp

I built a manual turbo XT, T56 6 speed, full XR6T driveline, full leather interior, lowered and re-bushed so it handled ok. Skids for days.

The attention to detail in this sleeper: air freshener, the wings on the wiper arms, dash mat. The wide angle stick on mirror. All it needs is the plastic weathershield on the driver's door. Super video, Ross. You put alot of work into them, and it shows how professional they look. The Falcon is the same colour as my BA XR8, but then I am grandpa age!

@@metalmoto4803 this gets me wondering - what was the last Falcon to offer accessory sunvisor ? The one that bolts to the roof on the outside over the windscreen. Not a common sight now.

@@railtrolley the last falcon...... good question..... I can't say I've seen one past an xf-xg ute or panelvan. Maybe xh panelvan police cars??? I know they did come out on nc fairlanes, I'm not sure or can't see them being on anything later then ef/el. Au's are a round body shape so would be very slim, open to be corrected though

@@metalmoto4803 Rarely see a sunvisor now. They were an almost compulsory feature of the grandpa mobile. Standard fitment of air conditioning almost all cars now made the sunvisor obsolete?

I love sleepers. I had a great one a few years ago. There is something fun about surprising someone at the lights. I am about to pick up a stock, fridge-white BA tray. It will be getting the full treatment. Bigger turbo, injectors, intercooler and so on. I will keep it with stock steel wheels. The only problem I am concerned about is traction issues. Have no choice but to put wide tyres on the rear. Maybe I can hide them with mudflaps.

Interesting comments about the 'boat' handling ... I remember the ad's when the "All New Ford Falcon BA" first came out and reviewers (Motor etc) were saying how well the car handled and praised the new "Blade" suspension - saying how much of an improvement and innovation it was over it's competitors ... I feel that what you've experienced there is more likely to do with wear and tear than the original factory conditions and settings - the car is over 15 years old and I'd suggest that no matter how good a car was/is in the handling department, 15 years (plus how many Km's??) will change rebound and stability characteristics significantly. This will also feel more pronounced on a car with a "Soft" suspension setting than anything designed with a more sports orientated setting. Nice mods and choo choo noises :D

even my F6 is fairly boaty in my opinion.. could be down to the age n wear on the car tho like you said.. but this XT was scary how loose the suspension was

Jimmi Johnson mine was tuned but the turbo blew up, so I put a standard turbo back on it and reflashed it back to standard now she’s slow, just need to sort out the oil leaks then I’ll go get it tuned again

Love the Taxi picture at King's Cross... probably brings back memories for other viewers jumping in one at 3am for the ride home.. Hope that BA is hiding some bigger brakes behind those steel wheels & hubcaps..

I reckon these na to turbo conversions are gonna be a really big thing in the future as the prices of factory turbo falcons start to rise.

Definetly man, considering you can buy a bolt in genuine exhaust manifold for $200 Chinese turbo or whatever you want and people are giving away the standard coolers it’s insane how cheap you can make the na ones turbo... however I don’t hunk they’ll hold up with the power to well. As the turbo ones have more reinforced rods

@@marleynugent2236 Actually the engine is the one thing that does actually hold the power best. People have pushed the fg na motor to over 500rwkw which shows just how strong it really is. If anything your problems are gonna come from the NA Zf, tailshaft and diff. But if hou left the power at 220-280rwkw, all the factory parts would be fine. The engine is not a problem at all tho, just has to be tuned.

All barras from the bf onwards got stronger rods and the fg na barra rods are actually pretty bulletproof especially with its higher comp which is awesome on e85. And i have got more videos from different people where na fg motors have been pushed to 550rwhp>. The na fg motor is actually far stronger than the ba turbo motor.

@@marleynugent2236 Ofc if you had this car, you wouldnt push it all the way to just shy if 700hp like old mate did but fact of the matter is if it can survive at 700hp without any issues, its gonna be perfectly fine and have bulletproof reliability for street use at 220-350rwkw on 98 octane. The weakest engine of the barra ever is the ba na motor and even that doesnt blow up till about 400rwkw.

Don't get me wrong I'd rather the barra over a dunnydore any day but it's still a full second slower though than my STOCK 4 cylinder VW Golf R wagon🤷🏻♂️

This is cool. I think BA XT look alot better then the xr6 in personal opinion. An XT would be cool lowered in factory look with a tuned engine.

I prefer the look of the back of a xt, but I'd rather the front of a xr6, I have plans to swap out the front bar/headlight on my xt, that and once lowered it'll look sweet

It hasn't got the more basic LCD command centre screen and it's got cruise which was an option then. It should be done in full taxi getup.

@@RossReviewsau I've got the old type taxi roof sign with the changing internal sign in the viewing window that went from Vacant, Engaged and Not for Hire that Perth and Adelaide were still using until the late 1990s and Sydney until 1990. I have a couple of mechanical meters as well as electronic ones. Goid luck getting them operational again though.

Great review! The Ba Bf sedans of any trim level are just the way to go. Do things nicely and they are true sleepers not to be toyed with if push comes to shove. It is all about the plain Jane externally and most importantly internal trim level with no indication when someone looks through the windows. I see a guage on the dash...that is minus 5 points right there. Angel has rear window venetian in tasteful black under tint. Protects the bowling hat and the noddy dog. Love this shit and bring on more sleepy Sunday only cars.

yea the head rest lol i see ryan has ask too, hey has it got a tow bar , if so do a video dragging heavy load where safe to do it a stop too , show us how the falcon 6 was always a work horse , tick me if you guys think this too, i used pull a 680 SF haineshunter boat with my 76 xc 4.1 sedan , it surprised all the guys with 100k toyota landcrus or patrol and they tow little tiny's

Yeah just about every turbo Falcon down Mandurah way has it done except mine. I didn't do it on the G6ET because I would find it annoying really quickly plus I expect it sets of MR Policeman's D*ckhead radar very quickly.

I have a 2007 BF XT, at the moment it is running a naturally aspirated barra 6, with a 2007 XR 6 turbo 6 speed trans behind it, and a slightly modified computer, it is definately a very different car. Pull way harder than it use to. Very snappy with the gears though.

I have a 2003 Mercury Silver BA with Aftermarket SVI LPG. Stock standard. Hard to find a nice clean one now. Owned 9 years and live the old girl. Would never sell.

my grandpa had this car, but as a normal v8. it went, as my dad had to drive it for a bit due to a work injury, so couldn't drive his manual lancer lol.except i think my grandpas was a Fairline, unsure tho, this was a few years ago, before my dad moved out agian lol

I knew it was an XR6 Turbo engine I knew on Instagram as soon as I Heard it I. always wanted to do a Stock stand XR6 turbo upgrade on a AU falcon but have been told not to use a BA engine and gearbox and driveshaft been told the The BFs Are the good ones for engine conversions

The BF Ford turbo come out with 245 kW where's the ba come out with 240 kilowatt and ba has smaller diff bush bf is bigger and centre drive shaft bearing is bigger in the bf

Such an awesome sleeper! 4 speed hurts it big time though. My stock FGX G6ET will do 0-100 in 5s. With that power, it could be cranking so much better with the ZF.

Yeh The stock turbo barras with the ZF are capable of up to 4.8 on good tyres and minimum weight.

This is cool as always but still need you to scruff on to a really tidy FG or FGX naturally aspirated Barra with the ZF transmission . I know it won't be as fast but I reckon as a driving experience it might show why the Barra Turbo is rated so highly coming from such a great and thorough base engine ..The vast majority of Barra powered cars are N/A's and your opinion on the N/A would be very interesting . Can you find out the angle of that dose pipe? I wanna try make my own but everything comes in a 90 or 45, neither will get to where I need it to go. I have a 4" intake on it, but it just doesn't sound as good

Needs a manifold heatshield, the battery put in the bumper on the drivers side and re route the cold side intercooler piping on the intake side to prevent heatsoak. ask me how i know haha

The BTR 4-speed, according to my mechanic is way more cheaper to fix or replace, they put them in all previous falcons, though its obviously not as good as the European ZF Gearbox in terms of performance.

i don't think that car has 300rwkw mine has 320rwkw it has near new hankooks on the rear if i mash it of the line it just breaks out into MASSIVE wheelspin 1st 2nd and 3rd buy then you are doing way way over the speed limit

300rwkw is useless on the streets. The fastest 0-100 times that you would get on quality street tyres would be around 260-280rwkw and with the no lag baby fg turbo. I have seen fg turbos crack 4.1-4.4s on 280rwkw (with a zf tune as well) and that was running 265s on their rear as well

@@lukesm5747 so what about the xr6 turbos on the street with over 1000rwkw's they are out there destroying turbo LS commodores Teslas porsche 911's not old ones witch are known to do 0-100 in around 2.7 secs and 400m in around mid 10s these barras are running sub 9s some rare ones well into the 8s STREET REGISTERED so what do you think there 0=100 times are?????

@@keepitmashed7402 All those 8 and 9 second barras are usually getting around the 2.5-3 second 0-100 on a drag strip. However that is only because they have the suspension completelt altered ao they can fit huge 305 drag radials on the back and then they do their runs on warm radials on a cold night with minumum weight on a highly prepared grippy surface. Those same cars on cold street tyres and a non prepared surface like the average shitty road would struggle to get sub 4.
