Yo Adam watching you guys run that lathe was pretty scary ! You should always have at least 1/3 of the part clamped inside the chuck to avoid it flying out. Also your tool is out too far, dont be afriad to use the tailstock to help keep the part secure and run true ! Not to mention invest in a cutoff tool, Using a turning insert for a cutoff tool is innovative but not the best idea 😂A good set of verniers and micrometers will also help you with tolerances.

Use the center to line it out before clamping instead of hamering. If you start learning things the proper way its 1/2 the job done. Get some equipment like dial gauges and use them to line out. The first time you work with an independent 4 claw plate it will take have a day 😉. Nice to see you doing things yourself again like in the beginning when i started following you.

From my perspective of how you took the video.. The hanger that you pulled out to press the bolt out looks like it can flip to the other side of the car and vice-versa and give you a few inches in length extra based on the way the tabs are sitting it looks like could be wrong but that's how it looks like from the video
