That's a 4/5 cold open imo. The set up is solid, it calls back to Dwight Shrute's Gym for Muscles, has a great prank and a good physical comedy stinger at the end. The only point it loses is not being connnected to the episode at all really, so it could go before any DMS episode

As a Binghamton native, I can say with 100% certainty that the Binghamton branch should have and would have closed down years before this episode came out.

It is hard to say whether or not Robert was running Dunder Mifflin into the ground or not but there are definitely hints that Sabre had been struggling since it was introduced in season 6 and afterwards.

I have no idea what the deeper meaning was meant to be, but i know i got a deeper meaning from it. Jim and Dwight were always at odds with each other, but when Harry showed up, they united against a common foe. Now Jim and Dwight were at odds with Harry, but when Big Red show up, all three of them united against a common foe. It ends with the three of them sitting down, defeated, realizing they're on the same team. Everyone has conflict with family, friends, coworkers, etc but you always stick together when you're facing an outside threat. It's sorta like "i can say that about my brother, but YOU can't!"

Agree that it was initially unclear whether other branches survived the Sabre buyout. But Holly came back from Nashua, so that definitely survived. It was a shame we never saw Harry again, or indeed hear of any of the other branches after David Wallace buys them out... do we? By far my favourite part of the season (maybe the final few seasons) is Dwight jumping up and down in the lift, only to have his trousers fall down, only to then stumble into a meeting while pulling them up - and verbally drawing attention to it when he doesn't need to. Brilliant moment of Dwight's intense social awkwardness, but also a glimpse of his Alpha manner ("I'm in a socially awkward situation but I don't care what people think"). Suits him perfectly. And Australian wine is very popular here in Britain! It's cheap and cheerful - the sort of wine David Brent and Gareth Keenan would drink.

I mean, here is the confirmation that Scranton wasn't the only one to survive the Sabre buyout or the David Wallace buyout.

Honestly Pam stealing Nellie's phone feels so out of character, and i like Pam, she is a great character i still like this episode, even though i do not remember that much about it when i rewatched it recently, except for the line about the f*cking lizard kind. I would give this a 3/5, great episode Mulverine!

I think it traces back to early season 7 when Pam first became office administrator. From there she got more and more underhanded.

Good defense of the Deeper Meaning segments. Won me over at the Vandelay clip. When watching this episode it sometimes feels like season 4 or 5 if I look over at certain points, which got me into the show originally.

As someone who lives in Australia, I can assure you that not only is Australian wine a thing, but it accounts for about 5% of global wine production, which is quite an impressive figure for a country with only 26 million people; in fact, my home city of Adelaide has some of the most significant wine regions in the country, including but not limited to Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills, and McLaren Vale (my nearest one).

As someone who has owed money to a bank and other corporations in the past - they all call you. They want their money. You’ll eventually get a call from a third party even - debt collection agencies. Nellie owes mastercard. Not a spam call. She even says she has mastercard right where she wants them later on.

I'd like to see a video on Dunder Mifflin's biggest client, which seems to change every other episode. At least, it always feels like that. Is it the county office that Jan eventually works for? Is it the paper company that won the golden tickets? It seems like sometimes Jim has the largest client and sometimes Dwight has the largest client. or sometimes Michael still managed the largest client. Maybe they are all the largest...
@henrypeters5291
@henrypeters5291 4 ай бұрын
Keep in mind that they are perpetually losing and gaining clients so it would make sense that the biggest client changes, especially when you factor in Jim's mentality and Dwight's work ethic. It would make sense for Jim to only go after the big clients because his commission is tied to his sales. Also, given that the company is constantly shown to be in financial distress, it would also be logical for them to lose clients off screen occasionally.

And this might be the final (and second!) time we see a criminally under-used plot element - Dwight Schrute's Gym For Muscles! That could have had great potential! But happily it lives on. Me and my partner are bodybuilders, and our Dwight t-shirts make regular appearances at our gym.... but sadly, almost nobody know what they are...

That opening annoyed me. When I don't like a conversation, I leave the room. Don' get why that's just not an option in this show. Better episode than the last several but these characters still aren't characters, just whatever the scene and story require at that point. I hate everybody on the show at this point but some of the physical gags are funny, its nice to see Dan Castellaneta outside of Homer, and the lizard king bit rocks. Still sucks!
