I thought that leaning your gun against a tree was a violation. Anyhow I don't recommend doing it. My father taught me that when I was eight years old and I'm now 68 years old and have instructed my grandsons the same. By walking around the tree you can move something on the ground that can knock over your gun. BANG. Not good. Safety first.

My dad always told me if your going to do it. Kick the dirt with the heel of your boot so the stock sits firm on the ground. But your safety should always be on anyways in case it does fall. But you are not wrong you can never be to safe with a gun, safeties do fail.

With so many people saying there are 'no deer' and 'no turkeys' in the state, it's incredible that so many people are able to harvest them every single year.
