It is a crazy neighborhood plus he has a lot of supporters from rural/religious people plus he also caters the right/far right. He is a great politician but the average Turk the pros out weight the cons. The past 25 years has been very turbulent and despite current economic issue Turkiye is a lot strong it was 20,30,40 and 50 years ago. It was a very poor countriy pre 1980's./1990's.

@@kevinhylan5649 it is not only about that reverence part.In modern turkish history Ataturk and its tremendous reforms and idealistic thinking is (as mentioned in the video) the backbone of the republic. Amount of respect and the ideals he created are not only patriotic feelings. Turks (atleast the educated ones) feel a deeper connection and love for him because for everyone from every background can found something to hold on in Ataturks ideals and reforms. it is rather hard to explain but especially in hopeless situations you can find something to hold on to in his life or ideas or words.
