Wild Viking Travels

Күн бұрын

We have been in Turkey for two weeks now, living the van life, and day by day it only seems to be getting better. We are getting used to how things are done in Turkey and wanted to give back by helping a person in need. But it seems that whenever we try to help a local. Our kindness will be repaid a hundredfold. So this time we will be discovering Lake Salda (Salda Gölü), the famous lavender fields of Turkey, and make some new friends on the way.
Our van life journey through Turkey is documented in a travel vlog format.
You can join us on our adventures every Monday and Thursday.

We are a van life couple Jo and Miina, quite new to KZfaq but really excited to be a part of this community. We are about living small and sustainable in our home on wheels. Freyja is a Merzedes Sprinter van that we have converted into a lovely tiny home on wheels. We love the diversity that our lifestyle brings and we want to take you along with us! Follow us as we continue our travels, through Europe and beyond.

@@mrswedeee 1. This is not "Van" City, this is Lake Salda in Burdur, southwestern Turkey. You confused "van" as in a "Caravan" with the City Van, and worst of all calling a Turkish City "not Turkish" with your ignorance. Van is 100% a Turkish City as much as Burdur. 2. Kurds living in Turkey are proud to call themselves also: "Turks", as does dozens of other ethnicities from Laz to Circassians, that have lived in these lands for thousands of years together. There are over 19 million Kurds in Turkey identifying as Turks. What is your point - what are you trying to get at?

On February 18, 2021, the Perseverance rover is scheduled to make a historic landing in Jezero Crater on Mars. The rover will survey the area and collect rock samples to send back to Earth. Even though no human has set foot inside the crater, researchers have some ideas of what to expect thanks to a similar landscape on Earth: Lake Salda. You might not think a lake in southwestern Turkey has much in common with an impact crater on Mars, but the two basins contain similar mineralogy and geology. In fact, Lake Salda is the only known lake on Earth that contains carbonate minerals and depositional features (deltas) similar to those found at Jezero Crater, which is thought to have once contained a lake.
