No, peacocks for built to appeal to the ladies. Those massive tail feathers were sexually selected for by generations upon generations of peahens wanting males with the longest tails. Apparently being able to live with and carry around such a massive burden is a show of fitness. Turkeys are the same way, but they're less flashy about it.

Turkeys are known to fight for DAYS (resting only at night) until one gives up for mating/hierarchy. Their endurance/persistence is remarkable and their wing punches (think Pokemon wing attack lol) are very strong (and can hurt humans) and can often render most other birds or similar sized animals unconscious. That peacock would've been horribly stupid to continue picking that fight, would've gotten beat up for sure.

I think it is technically a stalemate. The peacock just fled because he got fed up. He did not want a turkey to keep chasing him all the time. Initially, the peacock was doing well with its flight attacks.

Well, the peacock wasn't really fighting. I don't know if that particular bird is a pacifist, or if it never learned to fight, but the peafowl in my neighborhood are a lot more aggressive. The turkey has the weight advantage, but the peacock has awesome VTOL ability, and could give the turkey a face full of spurs and claws all day long.

Yes they are but peafowl are used to fighting peafowl. Not chickens or turkeys. The turkey is too big and heavy to fight against he'd jsut sit on you, chicken cocks are too aggressive and literally back down from nothing. The peacocks are generally outmatched by domestic fowl

That peacock likely flew into the turkey’s enclosure. My guess is that peacock is just there for ornamental purposes and is allowed free roam over the property.

Turkeys will literally stand up to, and sometimes even fend off a coyote. A powerful, prey-hunting canine. Peacocks do have some fighting prowess, and have very sharp talons (I've observed them myself on an actual peacock), but the turkey is a fighting machine. Poor peacock ain't winning this. Chickens can be also very aggressive, and sometimes dangerous to thing its size, but is smaller and weaker than a turkey still, so a rooster chicken would be a more even fight for a peacock.

The tail of the peacock is a problem, he can't turn rapidly while you can see that the turkey put his tail up to maximize the rotation, the long tail is also a weakness when he tries to flie. However that's not a fair match, the turkey is way heavier.

It looks to me that the turkey won this round hands down! I am surprised that the tom turkey did not have his tail fanned and it's feathers fluffed out, , as they often do when being aggressive!
