It’s tricky to compare Ten Hag and Arteta. One thing Arteta did that a lot of fans didn’t understand until much later is he presented a clear, detailed, end to end plan with phases on how he wanted to get Arsenal back to competing at a high level. You can tell when he got full buy in because in mid September 2020 he was promoted to manager. Arteta working with Edu have touched every department in the organization. So when you want to give Ten Hag time, which is a perfectly valid opinion, ask if his ideas are just squad level, like what players he would like next, or has he talked about changes he wants to make in the organization.

That’s the major issue with him. Look at Emory, Ange, Arteta, basically any decent manager instills their style of play even if it means taking Ls but it show that there is a future if backed. Sadly ETH got buried under the pressure.

He actually has tried to, the problem is that most of the players can't actually play that way and have downed tools. It hasn't helped that his style is heavily reliant on a backline that is good on the ball and can join the high press, and United's backline has been absolutely decimated all year. You're all far too eager for instant success, this was always going to be a multi year project, this season being too injury riddled to properly assess. ETH needs his 3rd season, to flush out some of the bad apples, get some shrewd signings in with the help of a sporting director, and kick on.

Like you said its a multi year project and he chose to go for instant success, which is going to be his downfall. And for the injuries that require certain personal their are many managers that still stuck to their plan (Howe, DeZerbi, Ange, Klopp). They all lost due to that but chose to keep playing their style. Also majority of the players are his players or chose to persist with. Overall man he is just awful at United. Its over.

Also to say the team has got to look at itself means what exactly? This could just simply be unfortunate and pure bad luck. You do not have any extra information to think otherwise. Eth was here last year, and we didn't have them 20% the amount of injuries, so all that you're spewing is just speculation with no evidence.

If you look at Uniteds last 4 seasons 3rd, 2nd, 6th, 3rd Uniteds 3rd wasnt because they magically got it, they played alright. near invincible at old trafford. Most clean sheets in the league. United didnt have a striker the Weghorst problem. Then United got to BOTH domestic finals, and again FA Cup final back to back seasons

Trajectory? In other words, graph. Man United under Sir Alex Ferguson won titles but also finished third. That means Man United was regressing? Arsenal’s lucky that United, Chelsea and unfortunately Liverpool as well have not had anywhere near as good seasons with United facing the worst ever set backs in terms of injuries/illness and lack of stability, similar issue also for Chelsea and Liverpool maybe getting too carried away with Klopp’s announcement. Turkish has simply forgotten that from 2003-2013, United, Liverpool and Chelsea were thoroughly competing while Arsenal was managing to just take the 4th spot. Does that mean Arsene Wenger was a bad manager? It’s just a matter of time before these clubs start figuring things out. It will be interesting to see how Pep and his apprentice are going to fare in those conditions. In fact, I won’t discount Tottenham as well if they manage to get their setup right against set-pieces.

Arteta turned it around by finding players who play for him. Lets not forget three years back he had a CB partnership of Holding, Luiz. Maitland Niles, Ceballos, El Neny in midfield. Pepe in the wing. Fans wanted him out. Its the ownership that stabilized everything by trusting the process and getting him the players he wanted. United fans are Ten Hag out now. It's upto the ownership to trust the manager and turn it around.

The problem I see is that IMHO the number of injuries is ultimately self- induced. I genuinely think there is a significant correlation between this and the often cited "overachieving" of ETH last season. Did ETH last season have the squad and the depth to go deep into all four competitions? No. He got there by next to never rotating. And he did so although he must have been fully aware of the toll MUFC's pre-season tour would take. That's why I have reservations about him being a good manager. Even a half- decent manager would have set priorities and rested his best players in at least one of them, even if playing reserve/ youth players might have seen them crash out early.

Show me where and how Ten hag dismissed Ralf's opinion. A new manager just came in and you expect him to just take old managers word for it?
