Android and iOS, I recommend turning your device off at least once a day anyways. That’s what I do. I turn mine off for at least 30 or more minutes a day whenever I remember to do it. I certainly make sure I restart it once a day also. Many people are too ADDICTED to their phone that they find it difficult to turn it off for even ONLY 5 minutes lol! So sad! SMH.

My iPhone takes about 30 seconds or so after the screen blanks out, to actually switch off. The 5 min advice seems to be arbitrary, but I guess the message is that you should switch it off completely for a little bit, maybe to ensure the cache, etc are cleared out. First time opening most apps after doing this may be slightly longer, but that's expected.

The volume up then down then power is NOT the proper way to turn off your phone; unless you want a hard reset (and keep holding down power until it turns off and restarts). For proper shutdown hold down either volume button and the power button together and Medical ID, emergency call, and power down without Find My, should all pop up.

My man…you can just press and hold either volume button and the lock button to trigger the slider. What you stated are the instructions for a force restart, recommended when the device is frozen, the only difference is holding it down the lock button until you see the Apple logo. You don’t have to turn it off for 5 minutes, 2-3 is fine, a force restart will do the same. A restart is recommended after a restore or update as well. The battery percentage is false. The battery will charge quickly to 80% and trickle to 100%.

Turning off for 5 minutes, for an hour, or an instant reboot makes no difference. This will not help with malware or spyware, but services can hang up over time and cause bugs and rebooting helps with that. The wait times people push are all bullshit though. If it's smart malware there will be something in the boot or startup sequence that will just run it again. But I do turn off any computing devices every once in a while. Starting everything again helps keep things running lean and clean. Mostly a view chasing vid IMO.

Thanks for this well laid out, easy to understand video!!😀 Now that I know the Siri trick, will be doing this daily, was doing monthly, and using Airplane Mode, which doesn't stop background activity, as my alarm still works. I simply didn't want to wear out the buttons on the phone turning back on.🤣 Still have to, but I didn't realize all of the benefits, although using NordVPN, which many considers the #1 choice. This is why on my Windows computers, since 8.1, I use the workaround to actually shutdown these, by opening CMD as Admin & typing (w/out the quotes) "powercfg -h off" & press Enter. This way the computer actually shuts down, saving the battery in particular. After several hours, on many laptops, the bezel or where the battery is will still be warm. Now it gets much needed rest & disables hibernation. BTW, Sleep option still works when needed. And no more writing all of those huge hibernation files to a SSD with limited writes, doubling it's lifespan. I'm sure this would be the case for the iPhone's storage also. Will likely leave mine off at least 2-3 hours per day & on weekends when home.😀 You've earned my subscription to your channel, thanks!!!💯
