DISCLAIMER. If you are removing window tint remove the door panel and use a heat gun or hairdryer. Heat the glass up on the outside to were it is hot on the back of your hand and heat the inside as your peel (try not to make it untouchable) regulate the temperature and it will be the easiest to remove!

You should bring it back to car max after you fix everything and see how much they give you

When you all done you should take it back to carmax to see if they change the price

I’m currently doing the same thing to an 06 325xi. I was able to take the top window trim off by peeling the remnant of the trim up about an inch or two from the driver side, and then using a body filler putty knife (plastic, not metal) and just scraped it off. After a good vacuum and some goof-off on the remaining adhesive, it was ready for the replacement.

I found that when removing tint, get a piece started then put the steam on the sticky side kind've in the crease instead of on the backside, with the heat and moisture it removes the tint and glue very easily

For the trim, its actually held on by a metal strip around the windshield, pull on that and all the rubber will come out, then gather the leftovers.

hey man with that tint, I know its too late now, but I had the same problem and my solution to pull the tint and glue off in one shot was to peel it off cold believe it or not. Then you will have very little glue left over to remove.

Bumpers look like they definitely have seen better days. I think it’s time for some M-Tech bumpers all around! I think you’ll like the appearance of them especially in a black sapphire metallic E90. Maybe once my tax return comes in I might do the same ;)

hi i recently got a 2008 528i, everything works good but the interior doesn't go off (gear stick light and the lights on some buttons). do you know a solutiion, it runs down my battery

For working with glass, I recommend using a brand new sharp chisel! It's much easier to handle than a razor. I think it's worth the extra bucks. When I'm painting around my house, I don't bother masking the glass. My trusty chisel will cut & lift the latex paint very quickly & easily.

Flat plastic trim removal tool thats worked great for me when I changed my windshield trim

Take it back to Carmax and see how much they give you after you clean it up

what we do at the dealer is get a tire valve stem then put the metal end into the drill and u use it like youre buffing the paint. the rubber doesnt hurt the paint but it rips the glue residue right off then you use a little solvent to get rid of any residue left

What kind of tint is that? Mine i just had to peel one corner and the rest came out just by pulling

We bought a 325i for $1,500 last summer! So far pretty much everything except the body has been replaced (and even a part of that has been changed out). New engine, alternator, struts, springs, tires, front bumper, headlights, battery, fuel pump and headliner. We also removed the tint because it was bubbling up since the previous owner added illegal tint and let it sit out. They essentially drove the car into the ground and when we bought it it wouldn’t go above 45 mph without smoking and breaking down. Since all the work we’ve put in I’ve gone on a couple 2 hour trips with her and she runs perfectly. Not sure how much we could get out of it, but I love my car!

I like the way you work and how convenient the price is for the car ! I really don't mind doing the same but i need a lot of work to do to get that kind of experience really amazing !!

Windshield trim literally took me less than 20 min to replace but i did a 1 peice that covers the sides too..

One question, why didn’t you paint the fender before it was on the car? I know you can get pretty good paint matching nowadays, just wondering?

In finland you aren't even allowed to use tinted front side windows, unless they have been tinted at the factory already. :(

Hey for the windshield trim, I've read online that rubbing alcohol can help out? Going to be doing my trim in the spring time, and will likely make a video about it. Love this project, have long wanted an E9x project, because neglected ones sell for pennies! Currently have an E92 335i, not a project, but definitely a few things I wanna tidy up on it. Deer hit my fender and door on my Mercedes, so right now I've ordered new Halo ring headlights since the fender dent pushed in the headlights and broke most of the assembly, new fender, hood and door because of all the damage so that's coming together, after all this comes in i need new brake pads, discs, repair or get a new caliper entirely plus deal with the rust on the frame and suspension, sheesh. THEN I can start thinking about new rims and aesthetic changes like repainting and tint, it's a 1999 Mercedes e320 and man is it a handful of work but I got it for a great price.

Use a flat screw driver and run it along the edge of the window trim that’s what I had to do with my 1953 Chevy truck

Next time to remove tint use a heat gun it gets the job done faster and with less of a mess also same for the windshield trim
