No, the first electric guitar was a plank of wood fitted with strings and a pickup. It was called the log and is located in an electric guitar history museum I think. No acoustic guitar modification happened there. Rob Scallon has a cool video on it.

Hey dude, welcome to the world of people who own too much money. We poor play our strings, until they sound dull. These multi millionair boys change strings every week. They only play brand new strings. And they have no idea we simply remove a set of strings carefully. They always cut and pay these 15 dollars for a new set of strings. Sad, but true.

those string set deserved a second chance, please, stop making residue when not necessary. With a good degreaser they would sounded good. I don't dig the so called Luthiers or guitar techs always clipping the strings out instead of trying to recicle them.

@@andomi PREACH! this is all I've seen on YT... also I always thought you should remove one at a time while replacing the one just removed for neck tension reasons or some shit.... either way, you aren't ruining strings. and while acouguitar strings are relatively cheap, still they can be handy to have around. I'm not great at re-stringing and saving the old strings came in handy while I snapped one while re-stringing

The electric acoustic guitar I have has a compartment on the outside of the body for the battery as well as a tuner and tone adjusters got it at guitar center for 250$ don’t know how much these ones are going for.

When I was young, the conversion process was just clipping a pickup into the round sound hole in the body, then plugging it into the guitar amp . No drilling or cutting and easily reversed/unclipped for an acoustic melody .

Well when it dies you either have to loosen strings and retune (if that even works) or just change and retune strings completely. Not ideal for live or creative situations

I dont know if they still exist, but I "inherited" my dad's FG-180, from the 70's I think, and he had a removable pickup for it. It just clipped on to the sound hole and plugged in like normal! Sounded fine, from what I remember. (My ex broke it out of anger many years ago...)

The pickup doesn’t “translate vibrations into sound” it creates an electric current from the vibrations, which is carried by wires to the amp. The amp “translates” electrical signals into sound.

If you braid a thin, hard but flexible plastic strip ( c. 6-7 cm x 1 cm x 0.1 mm ) over and under the strings of an acoustic western guitar interchangeably right next to the bridge, it will make it sound exactly like a Caribbean steel drum band 😎 I am not sure what it will sound like with an electric guitar, but it's well worth a try 😉 Please let me know 😊
