PC Gaming is great, there are so many ways to get into it but for those on a really tight budget it isn’t always easy to get a system good enough. In todays video we will show you one of the common ways to get a decent gaming PC for little cost by turning an older generation HP Z240 Workstation into a Gaming PC.

Hi there! I did the same with the Z230 AND, YES you CAN convert it to ATX. There's an adapter cable that you can find on ebay or amazon for pretty cheaply to easily "plug & play" an ATX Power Supply. The "Stock" power supply doesn't handle gaming well (It'll blow)... i've had 2 blow out already so i finally decided to get the best ATX power supply out of frustration....Just thought id let you know.....

Good to know the PSU has a spare PCI-e power cable, this video was pretty much the only source where I could confirm that. I got one of these machines for my buddy like 6 months ago because he really needed a better PC for daily use and he didn't have any money for a PC so I gifted him one, the Xeon it has is pretty powerful but the Quadro GPU in it is no good for gaming so I want to upgrade it for him I'll definitely go to visit him and double check his PC actually has the cable before going further but at least I know it most likely has one, I just didn't want to bother him right now and he probably doesn't know enough about PC's to check it for me

Cool video. I am running an old Dell T3600 with 64GBs in quad channel. My GPU is an RX 5600XT. It is an older system but so far that has yet to be an issue. And as for an upgrade path Intel is usually only any good for 2 generations anyway so it is kind of nonsensical to me to worry about that. Furthermore this machine runs circles around a consumer level i5 8400 system I had for work. So I have learned the on paper specs and synthetic benchmarks don't always matter.

It had two gtx 980s 4GB and bought a $40 Dell T3610 workstation tower Which had 16gb ddr3 and a 4c 4t cpu I added a 500GB HDD with Win 10 and an 80GB HDD for storage and it has worked great without modding or errors it also came with a DVD Drive which is a nice. Touch, for $40 it's Probably the best PC I've ever built for the price and it has 8 ram slots so it's future upgradable, especially the CPU socket.

I believe the SATA extension out of the motherboard has 3 SATA connections on it and the board has 4 SATA data connections. You can extend all these though by installing a new PSU which we did in a follow up video, it requires a cheap adaptor to do.
