I was also a Boatswain mate in the coast guard, I served 87-95 I worked at governors island and I turned down transfer to fort totten. I lived in Thriggs Neck and Brooklyn for a while. I grew up in Brentwood on Long Island these stories bring back a lot of memories. You remind me of my uncle who was into some book making and clearly other stuff because he always had nice cars and jewelry. But I only saw him at family get togethers and funerals. A lot of crazy stuff was going on back in the 80s and 90s and I don't think we'll ever see a world like this again. Especially after 9/11. You can tell since you're such a good story teller that you've had to tell these stories a million times. Documenting it was the perfect idea so you can tell them the way you would in person and everyone can enjoy that experience. Thank you for sharing your story

Larry Lawton you deserve a lot of respect. I've been following you for awhile and I have to respect you because you've shown sympathy for people I couldn't. I've never been to prison or done hard time. I've been in and out of jail and have never snitched. I've always had the mind-set "If you can't hold your own ground, you don't deserve your homies to back you up." I'm no better than anyone else. I just found out about you today through your Vanity Fair video and I finally know what I’m gonna get for my uncle for Christmas. He loves crime novels, he’s always in the middle of one, but I know nothing about the genre so I was just gonna get him the latest James Paterson or something and hope for the best but I know for sure he’s gonna love this book and have a mancrush on the life you’ve lived when he finishes it. He’s also Italian, loves gambling, has a friend named Tony who’s pretty fat and hinted a couple of times over the years that he was friends with some “connected” dudes in the 80s and 90s - I don’t know if there’s ever been enough “connected dudes” here in Melbourne, Australia to make it believable that he was friends with any, but either way I’m getting Kris Kringle brownie points this year! Thanks for sharing how you changed your life so much - there’s so many things I want to change about myself and learning about you reminds me it can be done :)

Very rarely do I care to listen to peoples stories or videos. I have a short attention span and I dont have too much of an interest in much. Yeah, you guys are not very high IQ folks are you? You can't read between the lines of what he is really saying here? Trump is the president and has some very serious connection in the underworld. They are not stupid enough to cross or put Trump in the same group as guys who are gambling snorting coke and doing God knows what else. They are protecting him by saying they told him to get lost. Man, you people really don't understand how the underworld works do you? Same with most of these jewelers he robbed. The owners of the stores were in on the scores. They didn't lose a single dime, in fact they made more money on the insurance claim than what they got "robbed" for. It is a big racket. Doesn't take a genius to read between the lines and understand how all this works. Larry is a very smart dude and loyal to this day.

Man, we moved to Coral Springs in 1975. Your stories for South Florida bring back memories! I live in NYS now and growing up I would go to visit my grandparents during the summer. We would go to their cabin up at Lake George. Small world
