Roger? I didn't recognize 'im without the fu-manchu. He was THE moustache in Foghat! Coolest looking rock musician back then! Hard working drummer and businessman. He's carried the Foghat banner and kept the band going through it all! Glad he's still with us!

I never had one favorite band because there was so much good music back in the seventies...but Foghat was right up there with a string of hits. They had such talent and energy. I could relate to their lyrics as well.!

Been playing drums for 45 years and Foghat was my favorite band to listen to in the 70's. Learned a lot from Roger Earl and never really heard him interviewed until seeing this. Guy's awesome .

From what I've seen and read; Hendrix was usually sober when he played. He actually did take his music seriously.

Was there ever a "Behind The Music" - type documentary about Foghat? I'd love to hear a more in-depth story about this underrated band.

Underrated????? They were huge back in the day man and when I say huge I mean huge
@goopah
@goopah 8 жыл бұрын
+TheCubingProdigy ~ Maybe to you and me they were huge (Christ I have ALL the vinyl and CD's even), but they were not as popular as many others, and I've seen a movie where being a Foghat fan was considered a joke. Which is why I said they are underrated. Pop culture of today seems to have mostly forgotten about them and how good they were.

I believe he meant they are underrated because they weren't "huge" for very long.....only a few years, after the "Stone Blue" album they faded fast unfortunately and I don't mean their ability, I mean their popularity. Their "Foghat Live" LP is the best LIve recording I've ever heard and I've seen them 3 times LIVE and every time they were tight and sounded fantastic!!

I really enjoyed listening to Roger. He certainly came across as a decent guy. Foghat was the common man's band. Even as a hardcore blues lover I dug Foghat's versions of blues tunes, especially "It Hurts Me Too". Losing Lonesome Dave and Rod Price was a sad thing.

They WERE under-rated. Greatest rock band I know, but never got the headlines, awards, attention that Aerosmith and others got from 74-82.

even worse they got slammed a lot by the press and other musicians. I never understood that, their albums were way better than aerosmiths. Rod Price and Lonesome Dave were a great guitar team. Rod was fantastic lead player, and up there with Duane Allman on slide

You don't remember. It was very uncool to dig Foghat for a while. First the critics and record business machine were pissed they were trying to overtake the "big boys", then the punks and new wave crowd declared them uncool. They kept working hard and developed a hard core following. Anybody who caught them live remain a die-hard fan to this day! Did he say he loves to eat? Doesn't look like it. By the way, Craig was still alive when he did this interview.

My favorite band for decades, right from the day they formed. The only band I ever learned every song note for note on both slide, rythm, and bass. Even sent a demo tape to them once when there was actually two foghats ,mid 80s, I think. Seems I had sent it to the wrong management company ;-( Think the demo is even still posted on my blog, if google hasn't wiped it out...

It is interesting how much his parents influenced his life. He wanted a motor bike. NO. Well how about drums? OK, take lessons and see how it goes. You can see his father had some great wisdom. His father understood the fundamentals. Learn why you want to do something. Do it to earn a living and then do it well. A great story for young people starting out. Learn from those around you - good or bad - then put your body and soul into it. I have always felt if someone wakes you up at 4am and asks you to do something concerning your career and you do it like no one else, you have found your profession.

1971 Foghat performs (Slow Ride, ...) at Parnell Elementry School gymnasyum (Jackson Michigan) for the Founder and Sole owner of Universal Music Publishing Group and the rest of the school. This performance was arranged just so that 10 year old genious of a kid could hear Foghat perform and meat them to decide on giving Foghat a recording and publishing contract. The kid walked right upto the band after their performance and told them they will do fine. I wonder if they (Foghat) remamber the kid that decided their career? His name was Mr. Bengt Val Thulin and his nic name was Chip.

The interviewer seems to believe all the bullshit hype about Hendrix that he was wasted all the time. What a crock. I've seen hundreds of films of Hendrix & he took his music serious. Never seen him intentionally fucked up . Of course he partied but there's a time & place for everything.

@@mitchgawlik1175 This band is NOT the classic Foghat. The same rule applies with any band, you choose socialism/communism over American values expect no revenue from me to be used against me. BTW when Linda first posted Foghat's support for Warren a mass exodus of fans left the group on fb.
