🎥 Will Lerums is an instructor at the Marc Adams School of Woodworking, focusing on woodturning for furniture makers. This class centers on essential woodturning tools used to craft items like a plant stand or Shaker-inspired furniture. Key tools include the Spindle Roughing Gouge, for converting wood from square to round; the Spindle Detail Gouge, for detailed shaping; and the Parting Tool for sizing tenons. A student was highlighted using a half-speed grinder to sharpen a skew chisel, one of the oldest tools in woodturning that can be employed to create various forms-including beads, coves, and intricate small details. This class goes beyond the basics crafting real, beautiful, and functional pieces of furniture straight from the turning room!

📖 Meet the Instructor!
Will Lerums, a proud Hoosier and full-time staff member at MASW, was inspired by his grandfather's love for woodworking and began engaging in furniture design and construction at a young age. After graduating in 2014, he worked as a project engineer for a commercial design-build company in Chicago, where he collaborated with project owners, architects, engineers, and designers to deliver high-end design-build solutions. Will was introduced to MASW in 2016 by his mother, a fellow student, and interned at the school in 2017. In his free time, he enjoys camping with friends and family and exploring the outdoors.
