So true....seems all my favorite VC channels talk sooooo much Jazz 🙉🙉 feel like the minority.... but there is always the FF button to get to the selections I enjoy....but that is the beauty of music....different strokes for different folks 👍

@@mccarthyd6603 I have been thinking a bit about that lately. Audiophiles often do love jazz, but I don't think they start out as jazz fans. Maybe it's just that jazz has all those amazing analogue tapes, colourful characters and heritage, and fanatical musicians. I think the audiophile often starts there and the love of the genre follows. But what after? when those tapes start to crumble away? I think polyphony is yet to be fully embraced. Listen to Latvian Radio Choir sing Bernat Vivancos "Requiem', or Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir sing Arvo Part 'Da Pacem' on a streaming service and imagine how incredible they would sound recorded D2D or analogue tape and pressed 45 rpm at QRP

You are right about Peter Gabriel's 3rd album. That gated drum sound was so different on that album when it was first released in 1980. And to think it was a sound that was achieved and "discovered" by accident, initially.

Sure miss your old video setup. This new one constantly goes blurry then clear then blurry, etc. PS..Just got lucky on ebay to find the Peter Gabriel 3 on 200g Clarity vinyl from Classic Records for $80!

I like Free Jazz! I think listening to a lot of Frank Zappa has given me a taste for this kind of thing.

Love the new look, except for the constant follow-focus issues. Have you considered using manual focus, if that is an option? There should a good medium focal length that will keep you and the records in focus and still keep the background slightly blurred. Otherwise, another great effort. Thanks, as always.

Interesting content as always! Also like the camera investment - tip: suggest to put the lens on manual to avoid the de-focusing when on auto.

I've got Free Jazz - on CD - which includes the (originally) unreleased 'first take' and wonder if the LP includes that. A classic recording and one of my favorites.

Great albums! Art Blakey, B-52s, Steppenwolf...Wow! Thank you for the reggae selection! I'll be ordering some Lee Scratch Perry soon. My favorite Kate Bush album is Never for Ever, and the remastered version available presently is quite good. Remember when the Sugar Cubes were starting to get airtime back in the 80's? Who knew the magnitude of the talent of their lead singer? Bjork is still making incredible music decades after. Love this segment of your channel. (P.S. I agree with your Free Jazz comments.: can't really get into it., but it does works on rare occasions, depending on mood.)

Michael, I really enjoy the 'Turntable Favorites' videos. I'm glad you had the Gabriel 3 amongst your play list as that prompted me to pull out my Classic Records copy which is really a quite outstanding recording. I thought I would mention a few that I had on my turntable this week. Damien Rice 'live at fingerprints: warts and all' which is an outstanding live recording, Gillian Welch 'The Harrow & The Harvest' on Acorn which I think is her own label with Dave Rawlings and Sam Cooke 'Night Beat' by our friends at Analogue Productions. Excellent KZfaq Channel, keep up the good work.

Beth Gibbons was a great album, I did not get the cool one with the booklet though. I am always looking for a great sounding 9th Symphony, maybe that is the one I need.

I love hearing all the variety of what you listen to. I love most genres. While I know people love Prince, me... I just don't get it. That is what is awesome about music, there is something for everyone.

I didn't get Prince for years. Now I love him. And I think vinyl was key for my appreciation: Bernie Grundman mastering of Dirty Mind, 1999, Kevin Gray's Purple Rain. Great records, fantastic music and sound quality.

As other people have commented I'm enjoying your appreciation of other music apart from Jazz. I was a big fan of Prince after 'discovering' him in a record shop in 1979 by finding the album, For You, finally got to see him in the 1980s at Wembley Arena when he did the Sign Of The Times tour, brilliant show. Never listened to any Bjork albums but I did buy the Icelandic language version of Birthday by The Sugarcubes and their album Life's Too Good. B52's a great listen. I've just tried doing my favourite 20 songs as per your previous video.....IMPOSSIBLE!

Die Björk muss ich mir auch noch zulegen. Von Daft Punk find ich die Homework nice, leider verkauft damals. French House aus den 90ern ist immer Gold.

Noteable listens for me this week: Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen’s Composograph, 2018, a Rune Grammofon sublime sounding release pressed at Optimal, and the 2015 reissue of Cate le Bon’s debut 2009 lp Me Oh My on The Control Group indie label. The latter is an unimpressive, noisy pressing but such a great lp. Both highly recommended.

Michael, the Peter Gabriel 45 RPMs are all half speed mastered though done at Alchemy (not Abby Road).. I have the "So" 45rpm.. haven't opened it with the hope of replacing it with a Classic version. Wondering if your 45 RPM version has similar sound signature as the half speed mastered records by Abby Road .. That would be a great shoot out!

There’s an interview where Chad talks about putting together the Steppenwolf. It was a ton of work. It’s analog. Digital can’t do what the album does. Lol

Michael I’m sorry to say but your new camera causes a lot of blurry images as you move the albums around and as you move around. And it washes out the colour at times.

I have listened to Beth Gibbons sing Gorecki 3. Unfortunately for her, she is in the shadow of Dawn Upshaw who sings it with such power and at the same time sensitivity and with masterful vocal technique. Upshaw's recording is just definitive. Perhaps the pressing quality is better for the Gibbons recording. I have Upshaw on Nonesuch 33rpm, the only vinyl version as far a I am aware.

Love your videos!! I noticed you have a 3 fold LP cover totally covered by 4 ml clear cover protection. I have CAN Live in Stuttgardt 1975 but am not sure how to wrap the cover as you did. Would appreciate a link or step by step process to do this. Thank you in advance.

I get really dizzy with you new recordings now, it’s really hard to see them. I used to like watching them sometimes twice, but now it’s hard to even finish one with all the focusing issues in the new camera set up.. sorry Michael, but I still think it was a fail to change it, just my humble opinion.
