Thanks MixDting, I'm just trying to share some of my knowlegde with others. I will definately be covering more advanced techniques but for the benefit of beginners, I am starting at the basics. It's strong foundations that makes a good turntablist. So please bear with me...

For all you other guys reading, this tutorial also paves the way to practice the Prizm Scratch and the Clover Tears! Pretty important if you're trying to nail it down! (like me).

You get timecoded vinyl. This means they stay on your turntables and you don't need to keep changing vinyl. The program you'll use on your computer/laptop is called Serato Scratch Live (as DJRetaliator said). All you do is choose the song (from Serato Scratch Live) and it will be on the timecoded vinyl. Timecoded vinyl cost more, but you are open to such a wider range of tunes.

Turntablism is when you use the turntables as a musical instrument (i.e.: scratching, beat juggling). Basically using the tables as a means of making new music from pre-recorded tracks. It is also when a band has a turntablist in the group. DJing is more mixing tracks and keeping the music flowing without screwing with the sound too much. Basically, the purpose of DJing is to keep music playing without any stops so that people can dance to it without interruption.

Really really good. Most vids on here from scratch pros tell you what scratch they're going to teach you then proceed to perform it battle style, rendering the video completely useless for someone trying to learn. You got it down. Bravo!

Damn dude, your tutorials are like those legendary technics 1200s...still holding up to this day. Helped me to fill a lot of those gaps in my game I had since ages. A small nuanced fader move here, a broken juggle beat count there. Nowhere I could pic them up and thats not due to the lack of dj tutorials...those are in abundance...the once in depth that are easy to crasp for the student, their number you can count one one hand, if you are so lucky to find them at all. Thanks man. It means a lot to me. 🙌

@slowgo93 look at TT-200's by numark. there are also controllers out there like the VCI-300 and NI's S4 and many others. I myself use a Denon DN-MC6000 which isn't ideal for scratching but it will still get the job done for basic scratches such as this. Of course if you have money to spend buy 1200's and look at Rane mixers. Try your local guitar center (if you have one) to see what works for you.

Could be a number of reasons - poor needles, too heavy handed, record hole too big, slipmat not slippery enough, record is damaged. Try doing it as slowly and gently as you can to identify the problem. Have a watch through my earlier tutorials fo some guidance...

DOPE!!! in the music theory world you are playing triplets (at 1:50)on the turntable, so a 4 on the floor beat would be counted like 1 la li 2 la li 3la li 4 la li - each downbeat gets three turntable notes- or if u wanna get real crazy like John Bohnam u could play 6 notes per downbeat- like some of his fills on "Whole Lotta Love" (Zepplin)-DJ Scratch kinda does it on Rampage
