informing video here. I just bought a turquoise necklace that I was told was turquoise and I bought it at one of the shops in Santa Barbara owned by a person from India. The store did have some real gemstones in there and a lot of the things in the store was nice looking, however, the turquoise necklace I bought was huge stones that looked similar to rocks as the video host is telling here. The store also was having a 50% off deal the guy was talking about.

Thank you for this video. There are way too many gem sellers trying to scam people out there today. And it's not just with turquoise it's with other gems such as jade or sugelite etc... And what really pisses me off ,is how the sellers will mislead buyers by labeling their product "Turquoise jewelry" while turquoise is only the color of the stone they're selling which is probably dyed howlite or chalk etc.. and not the actual genuine stone that is Turquoise! It pays to know what to look for.

I should not talk bad about any dealer. Having said that I have studied all my competitions offerings. None that I received were indeed natural. They were stabilized with a resin. The only place I know of that you can buy real Turquoise beads for a deal is at Colbaugh Processing and Fire Mountain Gems... I would not recommend anyone else There are other high end dealers with better material, but the price is much higher

hi. Are there any test I could do to find out if what I am getting is indeed real or fake? Where I live Michaels beads suck. And the other bead store closed. So Online is my only choice here because I don't drive and can't travel. So I need to at least be able to determine if its the real deal or a faux ?

The Flaws | Matrix are my favorite stones. This was fantastic. I have strands of ‘turquoise’ I have been hoarding since 2006. I have some very big, I call Robin egg *based on size/shape turquoise chunks I have not been able to find since 2010-I think from China. I was thinking about selling everything but have held onto my collections because I want my strands evaluated by a professional. This was very awesome and helpful! Thank you!

Thanks so much for your information. Embarrassed to say, but I’ve been duped. I figured if I buy by the gram the turquoise must be a natural stone.😬. I think I may have a collection of very expensive unnatural turquoise. 🙁😞 I thought I was better educated but I am also just too trusting. Expensive lesson. Thanks again. Hope you make more videos to help the gullible. 😳

Do not buy beads from ebay you will get taken by most sellers unless they have a brick and mortar business or their own website as we do. We do have several already strung natural Turquoise bead necklaces and stabilized Turquoise bead necklaces on our website just google Durango Silver Company

I had no idea!! I only have a couple of pendants but who knows what they are then! I think the safest way for me is to find a good source rather than spontaneous purchases ... theres so much out there and I'm not sure the sellers in my local shops would know if what they have is real or other! Thanks for the info!🌼

Hi I bought a string of beads several years ago from an antique District. They were round,, I really didn't ask any questions.. I didn't know any better at the time. I had no idea some was fake. I thought there were different grades. These beads overtime changed color. they got lighter and lighter, but around the string area on each end is stay the same color. Please tell me about this type of bead. is it fake or what? I did Smash one and it was white inside. I'm assuming it's howlite? don't think I spelled that right... Anyway could you let me know before I throw them away. Thank you,, your show was very informative. Ev Chappell

Just from the get go, the 50% off deal sounds bad to me. Real gemstone jewelry and beads are expensive, even if the stones have been stabilized or enhanced. Most of the entry level and foreign dealers sell Howlite or cement, not to fake you out, but that is all they have access too at the price they are willing to pay. Also they do not have the knowledge to deal in natural gems. Most of these dealers try to conduct business geared towards the lowest price point. NOT TRUE FOR ALL.

howlite is junk stone, magnesite is turquoise without color. i hubei that has been dyed, sort of imitation. but most hard turquoise is gone or still in the ground.
@DurangoSilver
@DurangoSilver 4 жыл бұрын
Dawn, Howlite is junk if it is being sold as Turquoise. Natural white howlite is a gemstone of it's own. It is not expensive, but it is pretty when sold for what it is, the same goes for magnesite like Wild Horse. Your statements are not correct. There is plenty of good REAL turquoise coming out of mines right now, both stabilized, and natural. Go checkout Colbaugh.net, or sterlingopalturquoise, sunwestsilver.com, and there are many more miners out there
