Thank you so much for this video. I was just teaching my son to not get used to just riding people’s backs in this situation. Heavy hips and flatten him out, punches in bunches and end this fight.

I tried this yesterday. Guy shifted his weight and I almost dislocated my shoulder. I had too much weight on my hands for sure but next time I'm just going to turn to my side and do a basic back escape

Why would the person on the back stay in seatbelt grip? Literally as soon as you post up on that first arm I’m grabbing it and you’re landing on your face…

Isn't that hard to do while defending the choke? Is there a way at all to try to use this escape and hold onto at least one of the opponents forearm to defend the choke? Like if sometimes you can't get his hooks out or maybe only one of them, in that case what would you do? Would you just reset from turtle again? 🐢
@CleverWheels
@CleverWheels 2 жыл бұрын
The alternative I use is similar but I don’t get on hands but instead use elbows. Then I can block choking arm from any attempts, clear hooks the same way, and tip forward and shake the same way. If they don’t fall off then I grab their head and pull them off. It works surprisingly well.

@CleverWheels

Put your elbows on the ground and make sure your hand opposite the choking arm is able to block it from being a real threat. Then continue with the leg clearance shown.

Wouldn't the guy on his back get the choke?
@mattcasselman5399
@mattcasselman5399 2 жыл бұрын
There in lies the problem. Person on back starts attacking the neck/ collar and you have to fight hands which means you can't base. Once you start fighting hands attacker switches to wrist ride, applies hip pressure and flattens you out. I see this being 1000 times more effective in no-gi. P.s. I'm a blue belt and have no place contradicting a black belt but such is the internet... take it with a grain of salt.

Show this with a person 60-70lbs heavier on your back. Escapes are supposed to be as universally applicable as possible.
@kdavid123186
@kdavid123186 2 жыл бұрын
Escape is not something you just walk away from danger. You “escape” with your life as in you need to work for it. Anyone decent will know the escape you setting up and will make it hard as possible. Btw I m not a big fan of this shrug move in video as I am more scared of grasshopper choke in gi. In no-gi ? Sure
@kraken4348
@kraken4348 2 жыл бұрын
@@kdavid123186 Leaving aside your philosophical ideas about escape, a technique should still be mechanically and athletically optimized to make physical attributes as small a factor as possible. This sequence does the opposite, discarding the use of frames, ground positioning, hand fighting, or anything else that would make it *easier* to get someone off your back. Pop up to all fours and shake them off is not a particularly good strategy.
@kdavid123186

@@kraken4348 I don’t know man, but being strong does have its advantages. I fear jacked up wrestlers most as they just smash thru everything.
