Here I take a look at some Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 300 headphones for PS4.
An overexcited cat has chewed through the wires and they will need patching back together.
Will I be able to fix it?

Literally I left my room for 5 minutes to come back to find out my cat chewed on the cable, I have the same pair of headphones and I intend to fix them.

That "fabric" is cut string, used to strip back larger sections of cable after an initial strip

In hindsight; would it have not been wiser to check before shrinking the heatshrink if it works?

Certainly would! 😄 Although I tend to do stupid things like that. But I was pretty confident(lucky?) that the connection was good.

Awesome video!! I just had some quick questions. 1. How do you connect the wires? 2. Why do you need them to be at different lengths? Thank you!

Hi Anonymous! The best way to connect the wires is by soldering them together, but you may be able to use electrical tape (although I wouldn't recommend it as the cable would be quite weak). I cut each wire a different length, so that they don't short together when the heatshink is applied to cover them up! 👍

What about the cheap gaming headset that's been rebranded a hundred times. The kind with a usb and 3.5 jack. I've had 2 and both snap at the plastic housing near the end, where it splits into two cables.

Is it the same headset? If I recall, it was Green - left, Red - right, Black - ground, Copper - ground & White - mic. You can twist the 2 ground wires together. Sometimes, the wires are different colours, but search for TRRS wiring diagram online, and you should find it for your particular model.

Mine is ripped from the very bottom. Also I wouldn’t mind the shorter cable, mine is long and always getting in the way. Omg it’s like 5’10 long

i hate it when kittens or puppies are destructive, i had my parents' kitten chew up my ps2 controller cable. i was so sad. he also took a shit in my room too.

I tried splicing and it's audio is super low, is that an issue with my splicing job or just my head set as ik turtle beach has that issue sometimes

After a little more testing I found that I had forgot to burn the enamel of the blue and red wires. Sound immediately started working. But I've come across the issue with my jack rapidly disconnecting and reconnecting on my phone. No issue on my xbox controller other than seeing feedback from my mic
