I will tell what the cap ship does, Kol Battleship are good to decimate swarms of fighter/bombers and if you get two of them and time the ability you can get rid of almost all enemy bombers. Sova Carrier is a carrier and have an embargo ability which can devastate an enemy if you rush their capital with it at the start of the game (rush is not recommended for beginners). Akkan battlecruiser is a versatile ship but lose importance the longer the game goes on, it can colonize which is a strong ability early game but late game when you regen mana quickly becomes less important, it can disable enemy weapons and abilities and with another skill and the one I like most is the passive which increase the range and I think it was hit chance of ships within an area around it. The ulti is just a peace for a while which can be powerful in certain situations, for example when you get attacked and need to build more ships or misplaced your fleet. Dunov Battlecruiser is a great support ship that have AoE damage skills and regen your other cap and titans shields and keep them in the fight for a lot longer, usually the cap I use the most later in the game. Marza Dreadnought is a brokenly strong ship and two of them can take down most planets very quickly, but what makes them the broken menace they are is their ultimate skill at lvl 6, After getting it to level 6, drive into the enemy fleet and unleash hell with a barrage of never ending missiles in all direction. This is where the Dunov also helps with keeping the shields up so it can do maximum damage. If you have two of them you can very quickly decimating most fleets. Corsev Battlecruiser is my least favorite of the caps but it's a good early game cap that won't die if you have frigates with it with it healing itself when a friendly ship dies. It can also allow you to go over your ship fleet limit by capturing enemy ships. The strategies I talked about is best used against AI with player being able to react to what you do. If you have problem with your planets getting bombarded with Novalith cannons there is an upgrade for starbases that need to be researched that prevent the loss of the planet until the starbase is destroyed, the Tec also have a planetary shield that mitigate bombardment damage.
