This is important for those who speak another language.
Steps to spot an XYZ wing:
1 Look for a cell with 3 small numbers Call it X
2 Locate a cell in the same block of the 3 small numbers which has 2 of the small numbers in the the X cell Call it Y
3 Locate another cell in the same row or column of the X cell which has 2 of the numbers in the X cell. Call it Z
4 You can remove any other number within the same block as the X cell in the same row or column which is not part of the XYZ wing cells.
You can turn on captions and have them automatically translated into the language of your choice.
At the bottom of each video click on the cc in a little square then click on the settings gear next to the cc on the right. Here you are able to select the language of your choice so you can read the captions at the bottom of the video in your chosen language.

I was addicted long ago, and I may have spoke too soon. I’m still struggling with some of the difficult puzzles. Granted I’m in a dollar store sudoku book so the puzzles may be done poorly. I still have more of your videos to check out next weekend! Maybe I’ll get through these hard puzzles yet. So far all the other tips you’ve given were logic I was already using, just didn’t have a name for them. Thanks so much!

Can the Y and Z be the same two numbers? For example pivot x=2,3,4, y= 2,4 can z also be a 24 or must it be 4,3? Second question can y and/or z have more than two numbers?

Hello Stuart. Yes they could. and generally the pivot is the only one that can have 3 numbers.

Unless I missed it you did not give the logic behind this. I prefer to take each of the cells in turn which have a coresponding number to the Pivot cell and look at the effect of making that number true and so forth. If the result shows conflict then that is NOT the number. It's very hard to describe somethings but JB below says it I think.

Yes it does. For very difficult puzzles, because you need to know many technqiues and patterns to look for.
