hey man. i have a 2009 jetta with a bad actuator; i've had the new actuator sitting in the trunk for almost 3 years now because I've been procrastinating to take it to a mechanic. After recently changing my ignition coils and spark plugs; I came across your video and it instilled within me great confidence to finally tackle the project on my own. 3 years later and I am in utter disbelief that I had the ability and the power to do this all on my own in under an hour. Huge help, thank you for this! Garage wanted a few hundred to change the lock and with labour.. £40 for the lock from autodoc and it works! Job done!

Step 9 is what I needed to know. That bolt hidden behind the rubber wiring cover, I used vice grips to turn the T30 bit.

I did mine last night, just use light pressure on the door handle and with your other hand use your pointer finger to pull out and press in the cable. And I'm saying pull out as much slack as you can. Great video, follow it and you won't have any problems.

This is ok for front door,back doors have the front edge welded together so remove window mechanism in order to change lock module

You say “remove the M8 bolts”. However googling for it just give me metric screws. This head is called “spline”. In my car however it was “spline M6”, not “spline M8”. It is a used car, so maybe someone put wrong bolts there, IDK. The other thing is the mechanism that is held by the violet rubber band. It's a pity, that you didn't show it better. When I was replacing the lock, it got apart and the spring went flying. Took us some time to figure out, how to put it back. Besides that - great video. Saved me a lot of time.

STOP step Number 2 will save you lots of time 😪😪😪😪 trust me ! Undo it 10mm approximately . This screwb is rotating a barrel which holds the mechanism open stopping you from cracking off various little plastic guides and tabs 🙄😪🙄 When resembling the door and hooking the handle and then cable back together you may think something is wrong, that's because the mechanism is being held open . Once the step 2 screw is wound clockwise to a gentle close the whole mechanism clicks into position and if you did break all the guide bars , pivot clip, surround and reassemble the door 3 times in the freezing cold 😭😭 the tension will pull it all nicely together ! T.F.F.T ! Step 2 is the game changer good luck!
