Hello, thanks 😊 ! Well it depends of the type of wax you use (soy, paraffin, wax blend...). But not long in my case as you need it to bond with the next layer that will have to be poured at your usual temperature.

Hi Marion, I have been trying to make these for weeks now, and I keep getting flakes or cracks in the colored portion… I can’t figure out what is causing this? I heat my wax and check it with a temperature. Im not sure if the dye I use is bad ? Do you have any tips ?
@GlowedCandles

Hi Haley, If the dye flakes are not dissolving, it could be the quality of the dye or the wax being to cold and not allowing the flakes to melt.

Hi Camille, from what you are describing it looks like you have used a container wax. For any moulded candles you need to use a pillar wax. Specifically designed for this type of candles, the wax gets way harder and allows a good finish. I hope it helps.

Can we use a hair dryer instead of heat gun in the last part? Also I am addicted to your candle making videos. They are so relaxing.
@GlowedCandles
@GlowedCandles 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, it means a lot! Good question, I have tried the hairdryer as this is what I had at home to begin with and i would say that it can be done BUT you will struggle as the hair dryer actively push a lot of hot air out. you get two issues: 1) the hairdryer is not hot enough (you'll get there, but it will be long) & 2) because of the air coming out the melted wax is gonna go everywhere. I'd say spend the £15 on a heat gun.
