Have you ever gotten the "Couldn't find renderer" error? This was working for me up until I started up a new project this week. Redshift and Houdini versions haven't changed since

Amazing tip! A bit tricky to setup the first time, but once you are use to the workflow, it seems a lot simpler than deploying and setting up a bunch of Deadline nodes. Can you please explain how this would work if you wanted to render frames on other computers as well?

Thank you. Yes it was a little tricky at the start. I don't have another computer to show network rendering but I would say that you can put the file in a shared drive which can be accessed by the rendering computer and then edit the .cmd file accordingly to point to the network hip file. Does that make sense?

@@resilientpicture That's probably the way to do it. Wondering if this can all be done from the main computer though, so you don't have to launch the .cmd manually from another computer.

Oh I see. I guess you are talking about network render farm kinda thing. I used to do it using blender. I don't remember now but you had to have a master computer then client or slave computers with render engine enabled. Then you can use the main comp to initiate render in the network using any computer or a number of computers at the same time as long as they were running. I don't think I have seen that in redshift but even with blender I think I used external render manager to do that. So I guess you may need to find some render managers that can do that for you.

I know this is old but I'm considering doing this. Would render -f and specifying what frames to do not work? This way you wouldn't have to specify what batch to do. So like render -f 1 30 Then the second one would be configured and then say render - f 31 60

No worries. If I am right the frames specified comes from the actual render node in Houdini (Batch 1 & 2) . I don't remember seeing any frame specific info on redshift docs. Hope this helps.

Strange thing my command line don't start render if i use cmd file, but work if i add this commands directly by hand in command line tools after starting hbatch. Why?

Hmm, Could this be because of new restrictions in houdini / redshift? I dont know. I didnt experience ths. Did you try this in H19 ?

Hi, Good tip!, but my command line say "Couldn't find renderer /out/myRedshiftRop" and no work. What am I doing wrong? Is it correct "render -V /out/myRop"? Thanks in advance

Thank you. Do you have a render output node? render-V points to the ROP node in OUT context. Does that make sense? Hope it helps.

@@soulZtyleProducciones Hey man, we've come across the same issue, was the issue with the mread line and the path to the hiplc or did you have an issue with how you've pasted the renderer name? We're also getting couldn't find renderer /out/test for example, but the mread path is probably correct already otherwise we were getting unknown command: viewmaskoverlay with switched slashes.
