Carlos Thanks again for the video it really does help cut down on un-needed steps that someone newer to the hobby might take. I hope that there will be a future video in the diorama series that deals with snow and ice. So cool of you to take the time to share the things you have learned. I have asked many questions along the way and find it funny that some see it as a challenge or a threat, I guess it might be if it took years for them to learn they might see it as just giving it away.

Thank you for this great video, Carlos. You make the creative process look deceptively easy. But the video is so informative in it's step-by-step format, it instills the confidence even in a novice to try your methods... I, for one will give it a try. Well done, sir!

It's easy really, you will see that when you get to experiment with these methods, ultimately you can use them as a base from which you will make your own workflow and improve on these. Good point that the grass may look striking which in some cases is not so off the wall. The california desert in some seasons has wild flowers and grass after a good rain that look amazing against what is normally a dead background. great video.

Hi, If you're still reading your comments up-to-date, don't listen to any of these fools dissing on your video! They're either KZfaq nerds and critiquing your video and bluntly rude about it because they haven't grown up yet, still living at Mommy's house.... or they're just envious because they could never create such great art. I am an artist myself and I have yet to make a KZfaq video. This is half the reason right here.... I'm 42 years old and finally gained the confidence to allow my talent to grow . But I'm also sensitive and words do hurt me. The last thing I need is some cheeto eatin, couch surfin, you tubin, douch bag to ruin it for me. Props to you for not only making a video but it is a great video! You my friend did an amazing job!
@garyrollins5533

If you put something in the public domain, be prepared for criticism, whether constructive or not. We watch the content, not bothered about your sensitivities. This video was overly wordy, as you Americans tend to be, ten words when five would do. It put me right off and I didn't finish watching because of that very reason

Amazing work Carlos and truly inspiring! I came here looking for some ideas to build a simple WWII airfield diorama for my Tamiya He 219. Thank you Carlos. That was very interesting and informative, and the results are superb. I like the way you mention specific things such as "let this dry for 30 minutes to an hour" rather than just a generic "let it dry". How long for? 10 minutes? 3 days??? For us novices, little details like that are what make your videos stand out from the crowd.

johnrblanks Thank you so much John! :) I try to make them in the same way as I like to see in others tutorials. I find that too often they forget those tips because they are obvious to them, but I try to keep in mind what I went through when I had all those questions.

Al Wood Thank you Al! This is a first in a series, from now on it is my intention to make a tutorial on every single type of terrain or diorama that I end up building. So in time I hope to provide enough material that even if i don't depict a specific location, anyone is able to make the leap with what provide, hopefully of course. So stay tuned, I don't have a timeframe, I'll be recording them as I go along. :)

You might want to notice that a Diorama has a story it tells. What you made here is a model base for the tank. Nice video btw.
@reelmesh
@reelmesh 9 жыл бұрын
+Carsten Sørensen Thank you Carsten, you are right of course, but I don't recall saying that it is a Diorama base. If I did I apologize for my mistake. The title of the series is indeed "Diorama Series" the thinking behind this was that basically you can use many of these techniques to produce a full fledged, story telling diorama.

I was wondering for the powders that you are using in the end.... how do you fix it in place? or you mix it a bit with paint to dry and fix it on the surface?
@reelmesh
@reelmesh 9 жыл бұрын
M Sab Thank you Sab!I don't fix it at all, I basically blow the excess off and the rest simply rests on the surface (Matt surfaces have really good grip), I don't believe in touching the models after they are finished and that's one of the reasons I built the base for it, that way no one has to touch it at all.

Wow, what a beautiful desert scape diorama Carlos. I do have a question, how did you hold all the final pigments in place after you dusted?
@reelmesh
@reelmesh 9 жыл бұрын
Willy Vette Thank you Willy! :) The pigments hold very well to the base by themselves, as long as you don't touch them, but even if you try to brush them all, a fair amount of pigment will be retained by the sheer roughness on the surface where they sit.
@reelmesh
@reelmesh 9 жыл бұрын
Carlos Mendes Of course you can always use matte varnish to hold them, but I'd go easy on it as the majority of the varnishes alter the pigment's appearance. I hope that helped! :)

Carlos Mendes Ok, thanks Carlos. I went ahead and finished my desert diorama and pretty much followed your ideas. I will try and post some pics on my channel as soon as I fix the aircraft that was slightly damaged tonight on the way home from our model club meeting. I used some real fine playground sand as a final dusting then lightly sprayed some matte varnish and it stuck just fine thanks to your idea. Thanks again for all of your insight and great job on your desert diorama!

josé rodrigues Thank you very much José! :) No I don't use anything to seal them in, I found it to be unnecessary as no one is going to touch the model or the base where they sit. it's one of the reasons I usually make bases for my models, makes it easy to manipulate the model without touching it. :)

If could ask one thing,could you plz balance the sound level between you speaking and the music.(the music is much louder) I watch really early in the morning while the rest of the family is still sleeping. Look forward future offerings. Do you have one for doing an ocean water or river scene in the works? Or do you know of any good ones?

Pat M Thank you Pat! I have already taken care of that, on the video I'm about to publish I made sure that it was leveled and I apologize, I hadn't realized the difference was so striking. Please give me some feedback about the sound levels on that one. I haven't ever tackled an ocean or river scene and I have now Idea of when I'll be build one such diorama. Guido Hopp kzfaq.info as some really wonderful videos on how to do seascapes, for rivers I think I recall woodland scenics channel having something along those lines.
