In this video, I teach and play through Wild Tiled West by Paul Dennon and Dire Wolf. Wild Tiled West is a tile placement game where you wrangle cows, fight off bandits, build towns, and fulfill partners' goals. In the solo mode, this is a beat-your-own-score game with a blocking AI.

Yeah, I'm really impressed by it. I ordered it blindly, without checking out gameplay or rules. I think it will become available soon at retailers.

I set it up and played along with you for a bit. Then I restarted my own game. So far I like it a lot! Your recommendation was an original reason for me getting it at GenCon and it was worth it! Thanks!

I want to like this but I don't see how this is better than Planet Unknown. The tile selection also looks like a less elegant version of the lazy susan. Thanks for the video, very helpful.

For me, I think Planet Unknown is a better multi-player game, where Wild Tiled West is better solo. The main reason I think it's better that way is that the tile placement in Wild Tiled West feels much more important and impactful than in Planet Unknown. I don't personally like the lazy susan for solo play, as it feels out of place. But, I'm not saying Planet Unknown is a bad game by any means. I've played it 40ish times, and have enjoyed it. What do you think about this game *not* focusing on filling the board, but more goal focused?

That's different that a lot of the tiling games I have (Isle of Cats, Mining Colony, Atheneum) so I actually like that feature which makes it different than the others.

I agree. It really shifts your perspective on choosing tiles. Yes, more coverage is better, but without needing to fill you can choose smaller tiles to your advantage. Thanks for watching!
