That's a new one for me Tuula. Thanks for that. I must give this a try. Sewing in ends is never something I like to do.

Oh wow! so impressive to see how well it joins and how invisible it is in the matching colour yarns. This year I'm trying to try out new techniques instead of sticking to what I learnt first. I'll give this a go for sure, especially with wool/alpaca type yarn.

Wow, I learned another valuable yarn joining method from you that I was never aware of! Thanks!!! I watched your video on the Susan Bates soft cushions that you brought from Amazon. It really saved the palm of my hand in crocheting and stops fatigue/pain when I use an attach Susan Bates soft cushions to the end of my crochet hooks. I leave the soft cushions on the end of my most used hooks permanently. It gets a bad rap because some crocheters say it doesn't work on smaller hooks (because it will slip and slide inside the cushion). With my favorite most used smaller hook, I just wrap masking tape around the hook than push the hook into the cushion. It won't ever slide again.

Must be someone else's video, I haven't heard of soft cushions. But I have a recent video of Susan bates finishing needles, I continue to use them and they are great.

Thank you for this video! Does this technique work well with all fiber types? I.e. synthetic, natural, etc.?
@TuulaMaaria
@TuulaMaaria Жыл бұрын
Yes, with most, but not plasticy yarns or yarns with only glitter, they don’t attach themselves to other fibers.

I'm not understanding how this would help during color changes because a few of the stitches would have both colors in them. Am I missing something?
@TuulaMaaria
@TuulaMaaria Жыл бұрын
I showed it in two colours so it is easier to see, mainly I use this for when one ball of yarn ends. For colour changes it depends if the two colours would matter or not.

Good tip. Do the yarns have to be wool? Thx very much for this video. 🥰
@TuulaMaaria

Thank you! No, doesn't need to be wool but very hard fibers or platic-type don't work

Does the yarn need to be pure wool for this to work?
@TuulaMaaria
@TuulaMaaria Жыл бұрын
No, pure wool would get felted like this but it works. The ones I showed were 70% wool 30% polyester but it works with most yarns that are not too hard.
@catherine8770
@catherine8770 Жыл бұрын
So, just part wool to make it fuse like that? But not rayon or cotton?
@Mursutin2
@Mursutin2 11 ай бұрын
Would this work with cotton yarn? I'm currently doing a filet crochet with fine cotton yarn (hook size 2,5mm) and I don't know how to continue without a knot in the middle of my work.
@TuulaMaaria
@TuulaMaaria 11 ай бұрын
No, it needs a good amount of wool content, this is like felting the fibers together.

Does this work with acrylic yarn?
@TuulaMaaria
@TuulaMaaria 4 ай бұрын
Rarely. Acrylic is plastic so it doesn't have anything that attaches to other fibers. But some furry acrylics might. I don't use acrylic so haven't tried.

Its too easy to weave in the ends rather than undergoing this whole messy process
@TuulaMaaria
@TuulaMaaria 5 ай бұрын
Yes, this is for those people who hate to weave in! You wouldn't do this if there are lots of different colours, only when one ball ends.
