Helvetti, dear Maari! I am 65 now, knitting and crocheting since I was 3 years old, and FINALLY I found somebody who shows me how to make proper edges in double crochet pieces! I am more of a knitter, so I didn't spend a lot of time and energy to find it out but tricks like these, simple but effective, make crocheting so much more fun. Kiitos paljon! ❤ Regards from Germany Susanne

I absolutely love your tips, and your channel. I’m 73 been crocheting since I was 8 and I’ve learned so much more from you. The magic ring your way is definitely the best, I didn’t know you could crochet an Icord, I always knitted mine thanks for the wonderful tip. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw how easy it was to make yarn thicker. I’ll explain how I recently did it, and if you or anybody laughs at me I won’t be offended😊 so I had a ball of yarn and needed to triple it, my idea was unravel all the ball, spread it out along the floor and try to divide it into three. Well I had yarn everywhere, my husband decided I needed help and between the two of us we were able to untangle the mess and get the thickness I wanted, after all that the three sections were not even, one section was about half a meter longer than the others. Oh dear😂😂😂🤣🤣

Oh wow, that was a story! 😂 Definitely the tip with the loops is easier, doesn't take up a whole floor! This shows, we keep learning right through life, I'm happy I always come up with some new tips from various sources too!

Hi Tuula - I was lucky to begin crocheting at a very young age because my grandmother lived closed by. She taught me using steel hooks and 10 weight cotton thread --she did beautiful fine work edging tablecloths and pillowcases that were made from sugar and flour sacks! Your tips were great - the two that were new to me were the method to keep the edges straighter and making a heavier yarn using strands from the same ball! Thank you for taking the time to share these -( even tho I'm over 70) it is great to learn and improve no matter what you are doing.

The tail needs to be 3x the length, I haven't actually measured how much yarn it takes from the ball compared to the tail. For this reason I point out the tail and the working yarn separately at the start. I should have added that the working yarn is still in the ball, I didn't think of that!

A wonderful selection of tips clearly presented which I appreciate very much. Thanks 🙏 so much for sharing these. I’m going to practice all of them many times so that I memorise them. The straight edge tip is particularly useful for me at the moment. I also do yarn bombing so knowing how to thicken the yarn is an excellent tip.

Fabulous tips! Thanks so much. I particularly liked how you keep a straight edge without the bumps and holes. Also the chain method for making a thicker yarn. The Navajo/ chain ply you mentioned really relates to spinning yarn. It’s when a ‘single’ is plied on itself in that chain method thus creating a three ply yarn. ❤
