Just caught up on this reaction. So agree with your comments. What makes me cry (as well as the underlying message) is that the child version of U-know was played by Moonbin😢.

Thank you so much for reacting to balloons. It's a super tricky song because it catches you with its childish air, but it talks about the loss of illusions, naivety and about how the system absorbs us, alienates us, accustoms us to violence and in the end leaves us with an existential vacuum. And something I like a lot is that as time goes by we can understand the song in a different way and re-signify our nostalgia. Ballons hurts, but it also denounces, or at least that's how I see it. And about TVXQ, I've always believed that they sing about decadence and hope, and that's why I like them a lot. There are songs in which they call for a revolution to change/restart the world and in their concerts they usually wear military costumes (like leaders) and I find it interesting how by pretending to improve the world they can become dictators (ex. Drop solo by YUNHO), those are some things I've noticed, but I'm just rambling, I'm not sure =) and there are some theories about TVXQ. Some interesting things about ballons is that they were asked to dress up as animals to make the song more kid friendly, which surprised them, as the other song they promoted "O Jung.Ban.Hap" from the album of the same name, the aesthetics are darker. TVXQ's official colour is red, the fans brought red balloons to their performances which made the crowd paint the venues red. which is where the expression "red ocean" comes from, which they include in the lyrics of "Mirotic": -What is love? Right now a red ocean. And they are symbols of fandom, balloons and the colour red 🎈❤. For all that I mentioned Balloons is a beautiful song to me =) Again, thanks for watching and sorry for my horrible English, I use a translator, hahaha. But I really wanted to share my feelings about the songs. I hope understanding what I wanted to say wasn't too difficult, even with all my language mistakes. It' was nice to share thoughts and feelings about TVXQ, thanks for opening this space =)

Of course! I know it's tricky to learn a new language, after having learned Spanish I can sympathize! That's what I hope for everyone is to be able to express themselves, I really admire your passion for TVXQ!

Love those lyrics. I think that's a pretty universal feeling. Everyone has an era of time that just makes us feel happy remembering it. And we feel drawn to the cultural touch stones of that era. Music being probably one of the most powerful things to trigger our memories. For me nostalgia isn't so much sad as it is an inspiration. When I hear music, see vintage decor or fashion or find an old favorite film on youtube it makes me inspired to bring more of that vibe into my life so that in a way I can go back. And the one plus side of getting older is that everything comes back around and is trendy again. For me there is so much new music these days, especially in kpop that does sound like the era I want to go back to. The teens I see hanging out at the park are wearing styles I wore when I was that age. So yeah, I just incorporate the sounds and the aesthetic that is my 'red balloon' and mix it up with the new and current sounds and aesthetic that current me likes and as I get older the more I feel like the me I was and the me I imagined I'd be back then. Keep going back to what you loved and combine it with the new things you love and eventually you will crowd out the bad stuff. That's my theory anyway. 😊

I think it could be seen as that, I do think that it depends on how much its attached to like a family or an event that has emotion can effect how it feels. If that makes any sense

@@Killdeer25 Yes I suppose if your memories are attached to someone you’ve lost then there is an element of never being able to recapture that. I certainly have cultural touch stones that I don’t revisit because they make me sad. But bringing back things that child me and other happy versions of me loved has healed a lot of my past pain as well.

Not a sound you would expect from TVXQ!, but this is the right way to create a cheerful song. Just has all-around good-feel energy with addicting melodies.

It's so funny 'cause I really thought it random (unnecessary, even) that you would include Balloons in your TVXQ reaction playlist. I honestly wondered what could be said about it musically. Not to mention, the theme is not very easy to get into. I deferred watching this but damn I was blindsided by your truth bombs. Granted I've cried to Balloons numerous times before (height of the split) but absolutely did not expect to do so again in your video. Again, thank you for being so open minded about these things and presenting new insights about them. More than the vocal abilities and musicality, your videos have so much depth and empathy that a lot of the other reaction videos lack. For that, thank you.

thank you so much! I really do appreciate it, it was one of those moments where you start reading the lyrics and its got me thinking oh wow, this is the feeling of missing your youth, I do think that I do that a lot too, I will give you another example, Dancing Queen by Abba is incredibly sad, you wouldnt think so, however. the whole song is sung in a third person perspective so that means shes looking at the dancing queen wishing it was her in her youth again
