Maybe its because i didnt know them as a group so i dont have that attachment, but i think its cool af to see a duo like this... its not often you see this dynamic and they kill it 🔥🔥

It should be noted that TVXQ is my 70 year old mom’s favorite group lol. She’s absolutely OBSESSED with Max Changmin’s vocals 😂 Granted, they’re also my favorite group besides SHINee and I’m also obsessed w Max Changmin so I maaaay have influenced her 😅 her favorite song by them is their title track “Something” Happy 20th Anniversary to TVXQ ❤

At the end of 2023, it was their 20th anniversary as a group, and with only the two of them, they are active since 2011. The other members left the group due to a legal dispute with SM and only Changmin and Yunho remained. I actually know them since their first comeback as a duo with Keep your head down and I always really enjoyed their music! The Dingo video is just amazing!

TVXQ's "Down" is their pre-release track and "Rebel" is their lead from their 9th full-length Korean album, 20&2 -- 20 years and still 2 members strong -- which is a celebration of their 20th anniversary on Dec. 26. If you think this MV was good, you should check out their 2023 MAMA performance where they showcased "Down" even before the MV was released. You'll be able to hear Changmin hit those high notes live. They also had an epic collaboration stage with SM's newest boy group RIIZE, where they performed TVXQ's iconic song "Rising Sun." You also need to see them perform "Rebel" with the choreography live. You think it looks crazy in the MV, but they actually do most of that all live as well. And you definitely need to check out their Killing Voice performance. Killing Voice was pretty much made for SM vocalists and Changmin and U-Know are one of the best examples of that. Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group. But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until recently, JYJ was still a group and they still produced music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less than ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. So the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.) However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. They've been a duo for longer then they ever were a 5 member group. As you can see, even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap. (Fun fact: Changmin got married in 2020 and he became a father to a boy last year.) U-Know is known for his dancing and his passion for dancing and singing. He is also the rapper of the group. (U-Know truly loves what he does and doesn't hide it. He will tell you he is proud of his accomplishments and he is proud of his work. His off-the-charts passion and intensity is kind of a running joke within the industry. It's one of the things he is most known for.) Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. And like SHINee and BoA, etc., they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are one of SM Entertainment's top selling groups, easily selling out concert tours around the world. TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is pearl red -- which is why you see one of the primary colors in most of TVXQ's MVs is red -- and when you attend a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. (Their fandom is named after the 5-starred constellation, Cassiopeia, because they originally were 5 members who were supposed to be gods who came from the stars.) TVXQ were a 5 member group from 2003 - 2009. In 2011, Yunho ans Changmin came back as TVXQ, but as a duo, since the other three members filed a lawsuit against their company SM Ent. Overall, TVXQ have been around for 20 years in the kpop industry and were instrumental in the development of kpop as we know it today. They are one of the most successful kpop groups in history, especially in Japan where they have held multiple dome tours and filled Nissan Stadium 5 times over. If you go back to their old discography, by 2011-present day it will be a duo with Yunho and Changmin. They are the leader and youngest of the group that stayed with SM rather than leaving them. Three members left in 2009 suing SM for their slave contracts and it was fully completed by 2010 where the 3 members formed a group called JYJ and Yunho and Changmin are a duo under SM. They reworked all their old work from 5 members to be covered by 2 members. They had a massive year in 2008 winning so many awards then the lawsuit happened. Yunho and Changmin have been together longer as a duo compared to being a 5 member group 2003-2009 vs 2011-2024 and they have been together since 2003 so they know each other very well in how to work together. They took the remains of their group and stayed together to make tvxq the group they are today, highly respected in the industry.

TVXQ debuted Dec 26, 2003 with members Yunho, Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu and Changmin. In 2009 Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu sued SM and left both the group and the company in 2010 and formed a group called JYJ. In 2011 Yunho and Changmin resumed activities as a duo. Three members that left sued SM for slave contracts in 2009 (SM was lucky that these two, Yunho and Changmin, stayed..). As a result, the three former members of TVXQ were blacklisted by SM and, because of SM's influence, couldn't appear on mainstream Korean media for many, many years. They formed another group together called JYJ and are also active solo. One of the members, Kim Jaejoong, just had a solo performance at AAA 2023 and all the idols were starstruck 😁
