Fun Fact: TVXQ and SUJU were trained at the same time. The five members of TVXQ were the creams of the crop that SM chose to debut. While as an OG Cassie my heart breaks thinking about the time, one good thing came from JYJ breaking off from DBSK: The lawsuit they filed against SM back then is largely accredited to ending the practice of "slave contracts" which forced trainees and artists into egregious, long, and highly inequitable contracts with their companies. The generations of idols to follow didn't have to suffer through such insane conditions. Unfortunately and perhaps most unfairly, SM's dominant influence in the industry seemed to blacklist JYJ after they left, and they were unable to appear on any music shows or do any promotion while they continued to make music. Though I still love Yunho and Changmin and JYJ separately, DB5K is always in my heart. They had something insanely special, beyond just such amazing voices and harmonies. If you go back and watch any of their variety shows and such, their personalities and friendships were just so entertaining and wonderful. It was magic that those 5 were matched together even for a brief time. Some of my favourite solos with MVs: Jaejoong: Mine, NOBODY LIKE YOU (to enjoy the contrast between the 2 lol) U-KNOW: Thank U, November With Love (no official MV but it is a favourite precious Yunho song of mine that I love to listen to this time of year, and is different from the majority of what we get from him) XIA: TARANTALLEGRA, Flower, Uncommitted, ROCK THE WORLD (though honestly basically all the Junsu solos lol, he's our musical theatre king and it really shows in a majority of his solos, also he has that special passionate thing somewhat similar to what Taeyang has, that I think you'll appreciate) Bonus faves from JYJ: In Heaven, Get Out, Pierrot, W (T_T context for feels: The constellation Cassiopeia - DBSK's fanclub namesake - consists of 5 stars shaped like a W)

He's always been a rockstar inside through and through, even when they debuted. He's also a prolific singer-song writer and composer, and has written/composed more than 50 songs. Junsu (higher pitched voice with a boyish quality) has become one with musicals and theater (He's performed in Dracula, Mozart, Elisabeth (Der Tod), Death Note, Excalibur, etc and is still active as a musical actor) and lots of his music reflects that. Tarantallegra, Flower, Rock the World, 11am are some songs to try I will always suggest live performances, because these men are so amazing and their stage presence, charisma, and vocals shine through consistently 🥹

Love in the ice, stand by u, and bolero from their Tokyo dome performance are must watch. Their is another performance of love in the ice and it's usually the first one you will see when you look it up. Its a more cleaner version when it comes to their vocals. Another song is why did I fall in love with you and summer dream. Pretty much a lot of their japanese songs are a must

Thank you so much for your reaction to TVXQ. They where my first Ult Group and got me into Kpop back in 2003, at that time Changmin was 15 and the oldest was 17 so they where quit young. They always stayed a vocal group and always had songs like Hug on their albums. DBSK is an abbreviation of their korean name Dong Bang Shin Ki (it's what I still call the cause I never got used to the other name 😅) it means something like Rising God's of the east. In Japan they are called Tohoshinki if you want to listen to their Japanese songs. Kim Junsu or Xiah was my first Bias in Kpop and his Solo Songs are amazing I would suggest XIA - Flower and KIMJUNSU - Hana. The member you pointed out a lot is Kim Jaejoong he also has Solo Songs. the one with the deeper voice is Park Yoochun who was also a great actor but sadly got down the wrong path. For Songs of TVXQ I would recommend What ever they say, Believe and the Japanese songs Choosey Lover, Asu wa kuru kara, Love in the ice. They also did a Christmas song with Super Junior it is called Show me your love.

I'm getting on this train! I came into kpop end of 2009 because of GD and found TVXQ because TOP was really good friends with JaeJoong. But sadly they had separated already. And after finding out why, how and the mess after they separated, I decided to not mess with SM groups too much. (wanted to avoid future heartbreaks, as a Vip joke was on me). I really, very, strongly suggest you check out Spellbound and Something. They're still some of the best songs they've ever done and the MVs are also incredible. Spellbound in particular is pretty much perfect - visuals, vocals, choreography, melody.. all of it! If you're after ballads and vocals, I think their Japanese stuff as Tohoshinki is where you should go, particularly when they were still 5 members. They were also very well-known for singing in acapella back then, which few idol groups could do at the time. Oh, and their solo stuff is definitely also worth checking out! Especially Yunho and Changmin's recent stuff. I'd particularly rec Yunho's Follow, Thank U, and Eeny Meeny (the MV for Thank U is absolulely amazing, as well as all 3 dance practice MVs - you'll see why he's regarded as one of the best dancers Korea has ever produced); and Chocolate, Piano, Devil, Maniac and Fever by Changmin (all except Piano has an MV, and all of them showcase his insane vocal power and range).

Also I do recommend checking out more of when they were five. Especially live performances such as, Bolero, Tonight, Love In The Ice and Dōshite Kimi o Suki ni Natte Shimattandarō

DBSK is dong bang shinki in korean Tvxq is the international name but the initials for tvxq are for their chinese name. Tohoshinki (THSK) is their japanese name.

Their albums still sold like crazy after leaving TVXQ but being blacklisted from basically all media in Korea there isn't as much out there that newer fans stumble upon and discover them but ugh so good. Also Junsu and Jaejoong's solo releases. I had gotten into them just prior to JYJ leaving SM and I'm a Junsu bias so it was like... 😳. Also Junsu's amazing theatrical performances. Yes, ma'am, yesssss. I'm a year late to your discovery but I absolutely love when someone new dives into DBSK/TVXQ and converts to a fan. They were the first boy group I ever fan girled over. Followed them since debute and I still absolutely love them even though it's heartbreaking. What could have been if they all stayed together and if SM wasn't so vindictive.

AHHHHH the time is finally here for your TVXQ moment! To answer your questions, TVXQ debuted in 2003 so they're an early second gen group. Re: TVXQ vs DBSK. "TVXQ" is an initialism for "Tong Vfang Xien Qi" (Chinese characters) aka "Rising Gods of the East". "DBSK" refers to the Korean pronunciation "Dong Bang Shin Ki". ❤They also have a name for their group in Japanese, "Tohoshinki", and are the only K-pop group to have a separate fandom name in another country, in this case Cassiopeia for Korea and the rest of the world versus Big East in Japan). 😍This is because they started from the bottom in Japan by performing in small stages and appearing on radio shows to grow their Japanese fanbase organically, which led to the public giving them the high honor of being considered J-Pop instead of K-Pop. TVXQ's initial 5-member lineup was basically 5 main vocalists put together in one group and their vocal harmonies are INSANE. They were even referred to as an "acapella-dance group", that's how much they prioritized vocals (although they had amazing dancers as well!). Since each of them cover a range (Yunho - low, Yoochun - middle low, Jaejoong - middle, Junsu - middle high, Changmin - high), you absolutely will die over their acapella covers, especially since some of the performances are on the spot requests during variety shows!

The Way U Are really sounds like a NSync song haha, can't wait to see you watch more of their stuff. They haven't had a Korean comeback in a while but I think you'd like their last Korean songs Truth, it has a very Jamiroquai sound. Also, I don't like recommending other groups under those videos but as you were mentioning BTOB you'd probably enjoy HIGHLIGHT (they used to be called BEAST & were their seniors) and like TVXQ they have very recognizable voices.

Oh my gosh I can't even begin to say how much I loved your reaction. My absolute favorite dbsk reaction of all time. I recommend checking out the members that left. (They left because they were treated unfairly. Because of them south Korea now has laws protecting idols rights) SM entertainment was very salty though and unfortunately are very powerful, they blocked those members from music shows and tv for a long time so they definitely deserve love. Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu (ones who left) went on to form JYJ. Some songs I recommend live are In Heaven, Empty, Creation Then they also went solo. Jaejoong went on to do a more rock sound that I absolutely love (he also does a lot of Japanese stuff) Please check out Mine, My Only Comfort, Now is Good, Sign, Rotten Love and his new album Born Gene is quite good! Junsu went on to become one of Korea's best and most popular musical actors. He has amazing solo work too. I recommend Flower, Incredible, and maybe one of his musical songs like The Last Dance or The Game Begins. You really can't go wrong with looking into any of them. They are all so damn talented! I've been a fan of theirs since 2006 when I discovered them and I have been in love with them ever since. Nothing compares to them. Even now they are my favorites and 85% of what I listen to.

You should really check out their Rising sun performance from their T tour 2008 japanese tour. It's a really powerful and amazing live. And they did that right after doing an encore I believe.

TVXQ is the first group from 2nd gen. Without TVXQ there would not be a second generation. There was not sth as "generation" until tvxq appeared.

Junsu, Yoochun, and Jaejoong left in 2009 and sued SM to end their contracts and became their own trio JYJ. This was also the same year Hangeng left and sued SM. And basically their name is weird. its 東方神起 which means "rising gods of the east." tvxq = chinese. dbsk = korean. and tohoshinki = japan. its really difficult to choose what songs to recommend so these are just the top favs that have mvs. as 5: mirotic (its on the level of sorry sorry in terms of iconic status in kpop), tonight, bolero, wrong number, begin as 2: keep your head down, catch me, spellbound, something, before u go their lives are 100x times better than the recordings. and they were trained to do acapella so there are compilations of just that on yt as well
