2nd gen went through the most shit. The industry was struggling. They also had to risk a lot to expand to different countries. Social media became popular late 2000s. KZfaq wasnt that large yet so connecting with fans was harder.. having a solid fanbase was difficult. SM Ent wasn't the SM ent we know now. SNSD experienced black ocean more than once. The sasaeng fans werent a lot but were extremely crazy.

Exactly!! Now them saying that 3rd gen idols paved the way to be internationally known is just too much for me to handle. They dont even know the struggles of the 2nd gen idols as they were the experimental generation to be marketed internationally.

It's not easy for them to entered Japanese market in the past. I think it bcoz Japanese people character was not open to new culture, tvxq even had to stayed some years to learnt about their culture, their language & joined in many japanese programs. They're formed not as korean group but as Japanese group called Tohoshinki who sang in japanese language & jpop (the songs are composed by Japanese composers too). In the early years even there was member wanted to go back to korea (they got succeed in korea but they started from zero in Japan), almost hopeless. They first sang for 100 audience in university hall, then they could held concert in budokan. That's why in budokan some of members cried. Then they could held some arena and then domes tours (include Tokyo dome. Not every artist can held concert in Tokyo dome, it's presticious. But not now... it's easy for kpop idols do it). Then tohoshinki could held concert in Nissan stadium which is the biggest stadium in Japan. So, for cassie or bigeast everytime we saw yunho & changmin go to Japan, we called them "go home" 😊
