TW200 and XT225 Ride Idaho mountain singletrack trails

TW200 and XT225 ride singletrack, doubletrack, gravel and asphalt roads on a loop.
In Part 1: We are riding a nice gravel road along and crossing. Eventually, it gets a little rougher and starts narrowing to two-track for a little while until it turns to a single-track motorcycle trail. As always, the camera makes it look more tame than actually experiencing it. It goes up fast, with loose and some larger rock. Immediately, we struggle with the first little steps/ledge area. I think we both felt like we could've made it easier by just gunning it, but that drop off to the left was very scary and intimidating.
With temperatures getting above 90 degrees, and being in full sun, the next small challenge got me hot and pooped and needing a short break before proceeding. Man-handling the TW wears you out quick! When SC realizes that we're going to be doing switchbacks up that hill, he looks back wondering how in the hell we can turn around. We can't. It's do or die time. When he gets to the top, you can see the climb for the switchback to the right. I think his plan was to stop and game plan. Plans don't always go as planned. Enjoy...
Thanks for watching! If you like what what you see, please thumbs up and subscribe to let KZfaq know. Thanks!

Videos never do justice to gnarly terrain. I'm thinking, "why is that guy slowing down?" Perspective shifts. "Oh, it's nearly vertical with loose rolling stone and a cliff beside you, that makes sense!" Looks like a great ride! Lots of challenge and nobody died! I'm amazed you didn't lose your phone at 4:45. Thanks for sharing!

LMAO!!!! Oh Yea! First video I've seen where somebody is riding the kind of trails I've ridden here in Wyoming. Sheep and deer trails and totally washed out old roads. I always wondered if it was normal to fall over A LOT of times. It's tough riding through bowling balls! Getting stalled while high centered over a ditch or small stream where my feet where "feet" in the air above the ground was my favorite...NOT! I always wondered if I was doing it wrong. If I was, then I guess you guys where too. LOL. Yea, you can take a trail bike places you can't take anything else but a horse, you will just get pretty beat up. I thoroughly enjoyed watching. I sold my bike. Doing this kind of riding in my mid 50s was just getting to be too much. Sure do miss it though. Thanks for the vid!

@@xt225 No offense but do you know what you're talking about or are you just assuming? I've been racing competitively on hair scrambles and dual sport events for years. It seems counter intuitive but the faster you go, the bigger the rocks you can hit without being thrown around. The suspension is built for it and your momentum keeps you balanced and straight. Dont keep your grip too tight and let your hips flex with the bike. You can go 50+ mph over 5" rocks no problem, its crazy

I can see this happening to me in the future. My friend just picked up a Gen 1 KLR650, I just put 500 on a new TW whenever they get put out to the dealerships. We both have street skills but he's never really ridden off road. Me I beasted a DR650 all over the place, many places I should not of. But I don't like myself so I took it on single track like that. Have you tried airing down the Dubs tires, does it help? Aside from they being DEATHWINGS.
@LeisureTimeLarry
@LeisureTimeLarry 2 жыл бұрын
The stock rear tire has always been enough for me. The front is fine for pavement, but should be swapped for off-road in my opinion. I went with the trials type tread of the Shinko 241. The Pirelli MT21 is similar. Yeah, I air down to about 10-12 in the front and 8-10 in the rear off-road. It helps a bunch.

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't done much riding on my TW200. Mostly on grassy hilly fields, and somewhat hilly gravel roads. I have a deathwing front tire and I haven't had reason to change it. So maybe if I were a faster rider, It would be a problem. But I do better on my TW200 on a steep gravel road than I do on my XT225, for whatever that's worth.

TF, the XT has more power for sure because it's engine is 25cc bigger, and the bike is about 40 pounds lighter than the TW. The weight difference is mostly due to the larger tires and steel wheels on teh TW vs. the skinny tires and aluminum wheel on the XT. Both are Yamaha and very reliable. They are just different, and they both have pluses and minuses depending on the terrain and speed desired. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Not only was it very expensive, but it could have been a disaster. I lost all my gas. Fortunately a couple of hours later some more riders came along and one towed me out. Most guys don't know their true inseam they just look at the tag on the pants they happen to wear and mistakenly think they have a longer inseam than they do. I'm only 5'3 so all my pants go to the seamstress and she cuts the inseam between 25.5 to 27 depending on the rise of the pants. Which brings me to my next point which is that most guys wear the belt or waist of their pants close to the top of their hips. So it turns out that is a more consistent measurement because the inseam is affected by the length of the zipper and different pants have different zipper lengths. I just checked three pairs of jeans, zippers were 5.25", 6", and 7." The inseams measured from 25.25" to 26.5." But the outseams were right at 36." Making that a more practical measurement. Didn't expect that for a response, did you? 😁
