A reinterpretation of the Twelve Fifths patch that was previously released, this time as a long meditative ambient version.
When listening back to the original recording of the Twelve Fifths patch, I noticed that in the areas where the two more randomized leading voices were not playing, the remaining voices were providing a fairly unobtrusive sound that still contained enough variation to not become totally monotonous. Which is when an idea started to take shape for a more long-form version of the patch.
The resulting patch is almost identical to the original one (in • Twelve Fifths | Genera... , see that video's description for more details about the structure of the patch itself). The only differences are that two of the voices have been muted (the one where the Opulus module is playing notes from the Geodesics Ions module and the one where the ShapeMaster Pro feeds notes into the Cloud Generator), the volumes on the main mixer are slightly changed to balance out the remaining voices and a short module chain was added that allows a single button push to first prepare the patch for playback (prime both the shift register with the Fifths and the Turing Machine with some randomness), and subsequently start both playback and recording of the output.
After that, the patch was allowed to run overnight, resulting in this recording.
For the animation accompanying the audio, some time was spent playing around in (and learning of) Blender. The starting point was a a tutorial by @CBaileyFilm (this one: • Procedural Ringed Gas ... ).

- VCV Rack (2.3.0) on Windows
- Audio captured directly by the Recorder module in VCV Rack
- Reaper (v5.99) for cutting down audio to 4 hours with fade-out
- Blender (3.4.1) for the artwork
- DaVinci Resolve (18.5) for merging of different animation layers, adding text and fades
- Shutter Encoder (v16.0) for stitching together the video files and merging with the audio
