Everquest: 115 Shaman Healing and DPSing (Revised Setup)

I discuss my approach to raid and group healing and dps'ing. I don't cover the epic (cast it when it's up, pair it with your bard's epic if possible) or burns (fleeing spirit, Spire, Glyphs, etc.). Feel free to comment with your own ideas.

Dude, I would love to see this kind of video from you for other classes. I main monk, and I've got a great system that I've worked through and refined; playing alts I always feel like I'm never efficient

I totally hear you. I'd be lost trying to play a monk at a high level. I'm slowly figuring out how to present information on these videos. I'll be doing more classes over time. At least those classes, I feel I can play at a reasonable level.

I've done similar setups for other classes. Mostly 115 to 120 and a few heroics. I only have one level 125 character, my Necro and I'm enjoying his system. Once I level other toons I'll start posting updated setups with current info

Hey man I’m coming back to EQ after a 20 year break and decided to switch from a monk that I had during velious to a shammy. GINA wasn’t a thing back then, any chance you would be willing to share your setup? Also thank you for the videos I’m just starting off my journey got 115 last week and now time to try to catch up on AAs

Loved the video. Long time shaman coming back to EQ after a long absence. I'd love to get your opinions on what AA's I need to focus on coming back for groups/raids. I'm currently leveling up from 85 but have roughly 250 AA's to put into the AA tree.

That is a tricky question as you will get so many AA's autogranted as you level. If you want to do trades kills, those won't be autogranted. In terms of Shaman abilities for raids, you'll want to focus on survival, healing, and then DPS. The key focus will be the one that enhances Squall as that is the class defining spell. You'll use it constantly. If you haven't gotten your 2.O yet, make that a priority. It is still wonderful ADPS.

50,000 k heal, holy hell thats a nice heal ; ) actually now that I think about it, you might have meant a 50k heal, however if you are healing 20 players in a raid with an AoE rain heal, maybe it could be 50 million heal over all those players? Appreciate and very much enjoy the content, I came back to EQ the past 2 years since playing live 99 thru 2004. Thanks for the info, very helpful. Hitpoints > all

The key thing with Squall on current raids is you're going to be healing just about everyone in the raid as we tend to group in tight. If you've got five shaman in your raid, each casting squall everytime it's up, you've got an amazing amount of healing going on. Then the clerics can focus on keeping up the main tanks. I tend to cast mostly squall and group heals on the raid, while dotting as I can. And yes, I focus on hit points over mana and I don't regret it. As long as I'm up, I can canni more mana.

Is it possible to make mouseover macros for healing purposes?

I don't know. You can assign targeting keys, but for a shaman, I find targeting a tank and using squall (combined when possible with the twincast nuke) is most effective. I change how I target NPCs a lot depending on the raid or mission. I don't always use hot keys.

Can you make a video like this about cleric? You said you have raided one and there is so little info out there about live 115 cleric other than spam splash. lol

I'll have to go through his gear to refresh my memory. Haven't dived back into the shaman after my long break from EQ. Focused on getting my Necro to 125. The big one was the rez stick. If you main a shaman it's mandatory along with the 2.0 epic. Of course, I have the drunkard's tavern. I'll need to check for others. He was my main for years but I had some health issues and stopped raiding
