In my opinion, it sounds better live than it does in the studio version. It goes to show how talented they are that they can sound just as good as the studio version if not better.

Tyler said it was the song that took the longest to write on the album. There was a shorter version of this, also called 'Goner' which they released a video for in 2012, which didn't have the lyrics about Blurryface, so it has lived in tyler's head for a while. I love the way the song changes throughout from sounding like he's almost given up to actively fighting against blurryface and how you can hear the desperation in his voice as he screams the words at the end, asking for someone to help him.

Last night this song saved my life. I had the worse panic attack in my life and when I was ready to give up this song came in my mind. Tyler's lyrics made me stronger and helped me to understand my depression.

i feel like goner is a song to listen to without any other sound, without a screaming crowd, but a silent one. just sat with crossed legs, eyes closed, tyler's voice, josh's drums and just let the music pervide you.

Man. I'm just realising all over again how beautiful of a closer this song is. After all the struggle, frustration and conflict he's expressed through this Blurryface, he lands exasperated at the end because of the battle he's had with Blurryface - his insecurity, his fears, his selfishness, his shadow. He's spent. He's exhausted. He's done. But that's when he finally cries out to God for help. For him to come to rescue him. In that moment he's totally vulnerable and is fully experiencing his weakness. he has fully 'exposed' himself, warts and all, to God. And that's when he encounters God's presence. The reality is that God KNOWS he's always going to struggle with his Blurryface. God knows he's never going to be perfect. And he welcomes him, invites him, accepts him despite it. My dog just died today and we just got done burying him in our fav spot in the back yard. Whenever I had an anxiety attack I would sit in the sun listening to twenty one pilots and he would find me, sit with me and listen along. Now I'm sitting in my yard in the middle of the night listening to twenty one pilots, apart of me is waiting for my dog but the other part knows that he's here, I just can't see or pet him anymore.

I couldn’t get the visuals out of my head since I saw them perform this song live. Something about the caged bird symbolism and the frantic bird scene when he sings “don’t let me be-“ just made so much sense and hit me so hard. I’ve seen quite a few bands perform live but Twenty One Pilots is still one of my most favorite performances I’ve been able to see. It’s funny too cause I had planned to watch them with some friends but something happened to where I couldn’t meet up with them and so I stood by myself the whole time. It’s one of the only concerts I was alone at.

I am 38... he surpasses anyone I have ever heard. I discovered Tyler's music on a whim one day 6 years ago and thought, how is this NOT in the main stream already. However, I thought if it was then maybe the music would lose it's eccentric magnetic awesome-ness to me like when I found Colbie Caillat back in the myspace days and she disappeared after making a couple records. But as TOP gained momentum I thought these guys are on to something great. I soon discovered Tyler is to music as John Muir is to outdoors! Legendary, an undeniable remarkable brilliant "addict with a pen"!

here i am. it’s February 18th of 2023. it’s 6:03 am. i’ve been a fan of Tyler and Josh since 2012 when i was just 12 years old and starting showing early signs of depression. these two “random” men from ohio have saved my life countless times over the span of 11 years. my depression has honestly worsened, but this band puts my pain into music… and it’s honestly beautiful. everyday… everyday i am grateful for my friend Morgan who showed me “Lovely” back in 2012. i’ll always be grateful for her.

Always every time I take a look at this topic, sometimes you need to cry a little and take out all that is consuming you, it may be a new comment of several that I put, 2021 and I still have the throat knot as years ago when it listen for the first time.
