+Carla Melendez there are times where tyler looks insanely happy, mostly when he's with Josh or jenna. at those times, I know hes safe and I don't have to worry at all because he's happy, and he makes it obvious. i said sometimes because, like that point with the noose in the video, there are times where he looks so sad and broken and I get so worried about his mindset. But I know there are people out there looking after him and making sure he's okay.

+Carla Melendez no no no you're not stupid. Tyler has alot of demons in his head, but I think that when he's with his loved one (Josh, Jenna, his friends) that he can keep them away. he's not being bothered by the voices in his head. he's with people that can help him stop them.

You could see Tyler's face when they took the noose out, he looked so uncomfortable. After they filmed the scene it killed me to see Tyler sitting there not talking and rubbing his face. "Go ahead and hang this up there." I literally cried. I can't even imagine a world without him. I'm glad the director was cheering him up and for the lady who asked him if he wanted some water. Alison Colby I was watching the beginning and saw him be super sweet and nervous, and then that immediate fear with the noose. Even at the end how he was so nervous, fidgeting with his hands. As soon as I saw it, my stomach dropped. It's a powerful image, even more so when you've been through suicidal tendencies. I can't imagine putting it around my neck. He's strong.

I love the director. He made Tyler feel so much better. He was so visibly upset after he took the noose off and I just broke down. I haven't cried like that in a long time.

at 4:50, you can clearly tell something's off. Tyler THROWS the noose off and SHOOTS UP off the table/chair/greenscreen thing, and doubles over. you can tell he's clearly fighting tears and/or a panic attack. he tried to shrug it off, to say it was that he had to hold his head up, but i think it was different. at 4:03 you can also see something's not right. he's not acting guys. that's actual fear in his eyes. it looks like he's fighting a bad memory. they didn't cancel the video because of this, though. Tyler persevered. i know josh has a blurryface too, but damn, Tyler. specifically in this video you can see he's not alright. i have so much respect and love for these guys, you have no idea. they changed mine and countless other's lives for the better. i really hope Tyler and Josh fight off blurryface completely soon. i hope the pain subsides. stay beautiful, keep it ugly. I-/

CherryAnx I’ve done stuff like that before to redirect the attention of the person I’m talking to. I definitely don’t want to talk about what I’m actually feeling in that moment, so I talk about something else that is only slightly bothering me. I’m pretty sure Tyler was doing something similar, because having a noose around your neck like that is going to be emotional, even if you aren’t suicidal. Tyler is/was so that would probably really affect him.

His reaction to the noose at 4:45 seemed a little PTSD like and it makes you wonder what he's actually been through. Like he has talked about suicide and depression and anxiety, and in Guns For Hans he makes it sound like he has self harmed before. I know that it's none of our business but it raises the question: How far into the darkness has he fallen?

He isn't crying guys calm down. Yes, he had a hard time as a teen but I don't think that he had bad thoughts at that part. It was just the position that was super uncomfortable. Like he said "that's a weird/hard thing" he had to hold his head up, the blood was rushing in his head and he had to lip sync all at the same time. That hurts if you have to do it for a long time. It was a physical pain and not a psychic one

I felt the reaction on a more personal level because I've been in his position I've been to that side and once for a school play I had to play a character that hung himself and whem the noose went around my neck even during the play I froze up and the had to run and take it off and I start fidgeting trying not to cry but broke down on stage anyway

No one will be excluded just because they only just now came into the blur of things. I understand exactly what you mean about the noose part as well. I wanted to cry right there. If you are just getting into it, you should listen to some of their previous and new songs. My personal favorites are Before You Start Your Day, Isle of Flightless Birds, Oh Ms Believer, Guns For Hands, and Car Radio. Those are the older ones. They are putting out new songs from their newest albums as well. There is Fairly Local, Tear In My Heart, Stressed Out, Lane Boy, and Ride. Ride was released about an hour ago. Their new album comes out May 19. Sorry if you already knew this but I wanted to help out just in case. If you want to find out anymore you can visit their website. Maybe he's thinking about all of us, who struggle with mental health and struggle not to have that noose around our necks. He knows what it's like, and he seems to just feel that for a moment. I love twenty one pilots. They never lose sight of they're fans, what they're going through. And they help in such a beautiful way. They have my love and respect.

+Christina Favela you're not a fake fan for not knowing! it's okay. basically tyler was triggered by the noose because he has delt with depression, and suicidal thoughts and stuff...I'm just giving you a quick run down of it...but what he's delt with, and still maybe deals with completely revolves around all his songs and performances and lyrics and purposes...just everything...he wants to not only help himself (which is by doing music) but also help others who are dealing with depression as well through music too...that's why he tells all his fans to stay alive..."because It's worth it"...and I'm crying right now because he is helping me....he is my inspiration and my role model....tøp is my everything it's all i live for right now...and i hope i find my kitchen sink soon... if you know what that means. if not i can explain that too. Tyler is the one who came up with the video. He knew the noose would be there. He didn't have to put it there but he did. And when he said "can someone hang this?" He was joking. And after the noose part he sat there because he needed to catch his breath. He could fully breathe from holding his neck up against a pulling weight.

So yes, Tyler does seem very down in this video. But forget about that for a second. After the noose scene, Tyler says "That is like the weirdest like hardest thing you've ever explained to someone like, keeping your neck from falling back..." So imagine yourself being told that, for a video, you need to put yourself in a position that is painful, uncomfortable, and possibly dangerous. Also, this situation represents a way for _anyone_ (even you) to hurt themselves. Think about that. It's like someone telling you "You're going to hang off of this cliff for a bit but don't let go or you'll get hurt." You know? It's scary and uncomfortable. This is relevant: I have asthma and when I have severe attacks I get very very scared for my own life. I keep thinking about the fact that that day could be the day I day. It's frightening to think. So Tyler is here WITH A NOOSE AROUND HIS NECK and _people are pulling on it_. OBVIOUSLY he looks uncomfortable (and brought to tears) by this. It's _terrifying_. So maybe he was depressed, it's possible. But also, it's frightening and uncomfortable to be in a position like that, so Tyler is okay. Your smol bean is fine. Friend, Please understand what I'm saying here because yes, this video makes me cry, and reading the comments is just making me feel even worse.

I remember seeing the noose part in the video for the first time and I felt so physically ill, I had to stop it and re-watch it to the end a few days later. watching the behind the scenes footage, and poor tyler...damn. he really fought through that for this. It’s been so many years and every time I hear the song I still need to close my eyes. he and josh, this band, it means the world to me. to us. that courage they have has saved countless lives. countless.

Yeah, when they pulled it out of the box you could see the regret on his face. He knew they would make him wear it, and that's probably why he doesn't want to mention it again.

You guys realize he agreed to do this right? No one forced him to do anything. Lol you're all so dramatic. He was uncomfortable because he had to keep his neck suspended on the green-screen mound so it could transition into the noose scene, NOT because he had to pretend to wear a noose. I highly doubt he refuses to use the word anymore for fear of someone having him wear it in a music video. That's ridiculous. Besides, the music video portrays someone overcoming mental illness, hence the noose breaking when they all pull it. The noose set piece is used as a positive aspect. So there's no reason why he should be against using it to the point of completely erasing a word from his songwriting.

I used to think people were overinterpreting the noose part but... now that I've watched it again I noticed something. When he sits up he's like 'yeah yeah i'm cool' and then at 5:06 he opens his mouth like he's about to yawn and then he just doesn't. It kinda hit me because I 'fake yawn' everytime i want to pretend that i'm alright and i'm atually not.

That lyrics in the second verse about the noose and your mind are the lyrics that saved me and have helped me through the most. And that part means so much and the lyrics are so powerful. Its so clear that the noose has an extremely strong meaning to tyler when he sat up and just put his hand on his face you can just tell that part killed him because he had to live what he was saying in his lyrics. Tylers mind is so beautiful to us but to him it is destructive and rebuilding in so many ways

Anna Borkowska I wrote this to another comment but I'll add something for this one: no offense, but I think you're over-thinking it a bit too much. I mean yeah, this part was probably really hard for him, but by his reaction and what he said- I think he just simply had hard time keeping his neck/head in the air while the rest of his body is resting. try doing that- it really hurts your neck after a while and getting up from that makes you feel dizzy. "it's like, the weirdest, the hardest thing you ever explain to someone like, keeping your neck from not falling backwards like that." yeah, you could say he didn't want to make a big deal out of it. but there's still the option that he was just dizzy from getting up and in relief after holding his neck up for probably more than 5 minutes. and as for the "fake yawn": keeping your head this way probably hurts your jaw as well, so I assume he tried to move it just like you do when/if your jaw hurts for some reason. notice how he also moves his head backwards and touches his neck, which is a natural reaction to pain.

The ending of the video... That isn't Tyler. I do the same thing sometimes. I don't know if anyone saw it: but he's fidgeting with his hands, almost like he's restraining to cry. I just love how Josh makes him smile like that.

Him and Josh have been friends since kids so he knows what Tyler's going through as well as I do I get fidgety like that to I feel bad for him but at the same time he overcomes it and makes.music which is beautiful becuase he's fighting back something I could never do
