At the end of Tenth Planet, Ben and Polly release the Doctor from the cell. He gives the "Far from all over" line and then leaves to head back to the Tardis. B&P follow and find the Doctor in the Tardis preparing to regenerate. What casual viewers may not realise is that TUAT takes place during the Doctor's short walk back to theTardis. Also, at the end of TUAT, I think 12 should have dropped a hint to 1 advising him to rummage through the chest for the piece of Dalekanium. As it is, 1 regens into 2 who then grabs the Dalekanium piece seemingly at random.
@barple3672 жыл бұрын
with the dalekanium bit, I wouldn't be surprised if Moffat never knew much about 2's first episode given that at the time it was still a lost episode without an adaptation, with pieces of film and purely audio to lead on the story. Woulda been cool though.

God, that brought me out in goosebumps. The line: "This old body of mine seems to be wearing a bit thin", will do that every time. And damn, those Mondasian Cybermen are still as creepy as all hell. I saw them when I was three, in 1966 - my parents watched Doctor Who - and they scared the bejeezus out of me for years. There was a comic I had as a kid, called 'TV Comic' which ran a Doctor Who strip. The only Cybermen they used were the Mondasians. If I saw one in the comic, my mum would have to cut the pictures of them out, as they scared me so much. When I was a lot older, I was given a copy of the Target novelisation of 'The Tenth Planet' as a gift. Even then, the superb Chris Achilleos (RIP) cover gave me a brief frisson of fear. No other Cyberman ever bothered me. These were just so very, very creepy.

Honestly when they first showed how the new regeneration looked at the end of series 1 when 9 became 10 it looked like nothing they had done before it. I always thought to explain the new more powerful look of the regen. I thought well Rose absorbed energy from the TARDIS and became the Bad Wolf entity. 9 absorbed all that from Rose saving her at the cost of his 9th form. I always thought that they should explain that due to the Doctor himself absorbing g direct energy from the TARDIS. Something even he never did before. Regenerations have been shown in many diffrent ways. But to retcon older generations to show that same gold energy just doesant make sense if shown on past doctors. Same with River Song regenerating. I think one of the most interesting to watch is 7 into 8 in the TV movie. They used a bit of 90s spx. Simular to that used in Willow. The morphing effect.

Writing enjoyable music takes time (outside of moments of inspiration), and getting the sound for an episode right (let alone a whole season) within the time constraints of film and tv production is a mountainous task, especially when all of the music is usually composed by just one or two people, and has to be both written, recorded, edited and mixed, several times before final mastering can be done. It's a ridiculously massive undertaking and these creatives don't get enough respect. Not to mention the fact that the way Gold utilised motiffs within the series was always very thoughtful and clever. Besides, TUAT definitely had some original compositions. Gold's hard work was always on full display, right up until the end.
