I'd pay double the admission fee just to see that story fully fleshed out properly. like, the short bit we see in whatever movie is fantastic and would've been so much more interesting than the "romance." or even a movie of a cop dad chasing down what seems like a mutant bear preying on the townsfolk, only to find out werewolves and vampires exist.

GR!FF He could do some other stuff, not Picture Show specifically, see how we got ultimate reviews for Marvel & Star Wars, he could turn it into a whole thing where he reviews entire franchises or something. I’m not saying they are to be held at the same standards, HG for me has interesting world building with, like you said, meh movies that do have a lot of cringe/awkward scenes that’d fit this format, although not as effectively as twilight did. The other examples would fit in a more serious analysis and it’d probably be pretty interesting to watch anyways

These movies never made any sense to me, because I always thought about them in terms of "would I want to date Edward or Jacob?" and they're both terrible options. But now I think I understand. Bella's not trying to decide between two boys. She's trying to decide between immortality and doggy dick. She wants to live forever, but she also wants that knot. She doesn't give a flying fuck about the people attached to these attributes. This makes so much more sense now.

Honestly the Twilight saga wouldn't even be that bad if you took Bella, Jacob and Edward out of it and just focused on everyone else. Like, make it about Charlie, the cool, pragmatic small town sheriff (who has a daughter that lives in Florida with her mom but we don't care about that) suddenly finding out about this whole supernatural world, this pack of werewolves lead by his life-long best friend and a clan of "vegetarian" vampires made up of some of the coolest characters ever. Fuck the romance, fuck the creepy shit, fuck the abusive love triangles. Just the cool shit.

Have much more fights like that insane final battle where the earth opens up and there's LAVA at the bottom. Have Bella, Jacob and Edward fall into the lava. Best movie ever.

Everyone calls Bella the manipulative one in the relationship with Jacob, it's 100% Jacob. He made her believe that they cannot spend time together unless they're romantically involved. She doesn't want to lose one of her best friends, so she begs him to kiss her. He made her feel as if the only options are romance or nothing. edit; the people defending him have forgotten that he literally threatened to get himself killed because she loves Edward, that is one of the most common things abusers do to keep their victims. She kissed him because a) she didn't want to lose him as a friend and b) she didn't want him to be killed because of her. I don't like Bella, but she it the victim in this scenario. Jacob would be completely valid if he told Bella he needed to distance himself from her because of his feelings. That is a boundary and it's a valid one. But he constantly disrespected her boundaries before and after this, threatening to kill yourself is not a boundary. It's coercion. Bella needs better friends.

I disagree. It is true that you don't owe a relationship to someone you care but it is also as true that you don't owe friendship to someone you have romantic feelings for. If he doesn't want to be her friend that's completely fine

@@loiracitr you're right but he literally threatened to go get himself killed or kill something when he found out she was engaged. it was clear to anyone else that she was uncomfortable with it but he didn't care -- he was just happy to get his way and kiss her. it's like with "nice guys" who stick around as a friend with ulterior motives, only to throw a fit/dip out when they're denied despite the understanding that it'd go nowhere beforehand. it's understandable for someone to not want to lose someone they care for but don't want in that way so I get why Bella acted abruptly in Eclipse, even if it was questionable. you could argue she was stringing him along in New Moon but it's possible she would've actually dated him if they had more time for her to move on. Meyer totally ruined his character though so I don't blame people for being "team Jacob" back then and it not computing as problematic.

if those are the only options he would be happy & comfortable with, those *are* the only options. it’s not that weird or wrong that he didn’t want to be just friends with her, it’s generally understood that that can be a little bit difficult emotionally if you’re already attracted to the person & have feelings for them. this isn’t really an example of manipulation on his part, he doesn’t have to try to stay best friends with her when he’s clearly really into her and can’t handle continuing to hang out platonically so much.

The fact that Twilight fans think a girl crying and screaming in the night because a guy she barely knew left her, a guy she only lusted after and didn't love despite the series portraying it otherwise, going catatonic for months and doing dangerous things purely to see a hallucination of Edward telling her not to do them. The fact that fangirls think that's romantic makes them as insane as the character of Bella clearly is.

They think because he was in the Twilight films he has to like them. Some of them even say "He made loads of money from them so he's ungrateful for not liking them." You can like the money you made from a film while disliking the film itself. He only did them for the money but because it breaks their fantasy that an actor from the series is as obsessed with the series as they are they delude themselves that he loved the series when all the actors involved hated it.

There was a Charlie Swan: Vampire Hunter joke going around back in the day where the story was re-written. I think Bella and Edward were the side plot as Charlie discovered his buddy's a werewolf chief and the Cullen family secret. Bella actually died giving birth and Charlie lead the fight against the volturi to protect his granddaughter.
