Great video JDV. I still haven’t purchased one of the 4K machines. Still using my HD table at this point.

Thanks Mike! It's funny that the HD still has some advantages over the 4k, like the ability to change brightness and perspective. Arguably the 2 biggest advantages the 4KP has over the HD model are those Zens games (which are a boatload of fun), and the SSF kit, which is pretty amazing.

Good summary, I suck on TNG and Twilight Zone is my fav of them all so far but Trolls is up there too surprisingly.

See, I suck on Twilight Zone (like bad), but I am decent at ST:TNG. I forgot to mention how good the callouts are on Star Trek - the original cast actually recorded them. So that's fun for any fan of the show....

Thanks for watching Dale! If they go down to $5, it should be an automatic buy - they are very smooth playing, very fun games. Perfect? No, but still a great time.

I’m still interested in the AtGames system, but can;t get over all the problems I had with the original AG pin that I had with all the firmware issues and machine bricking it caused. I’m really enjoying Pinball add now on the PS5 and with my huge 4K TV, they’re gray to play.

Another great review. The only thing you forgot to mention was that Star Trek has very low volume. I want to blast that Star Trek the Motion Picture music

I think it comes from the original ROM for the real-world version - a lot of the ROMs sound like crap (crackle, low, etc). One thing about these 4KP Zen games is that the sound does not crackle like VPX versions.

Yeah it is a bit low - but other then that, I think it sounds great (way better then various VPX versions I have).

I enjoyed this video. These tables have came a long way since Addams Family. Very fun. If you want super high performance OTG will be the way to go. They do have lag but the tables are more playable. They need to rescan those playcards. It is not 4K in my opinion.

Yeah, there's no way some of the elements - like the wire forms and playcards - are true 4K. The playfield might be though. Again, from normal playing position, the overall effect is good, but when you pixel-peek it breaks down. Gotta mess with OTG more....

A bunch of toys crammed into a pinball table is a perfect description of Addams Family! Maybe I'm just old, but I don't notice any flipper lag on these machines. My only complaint is the price. $15 is a lot for a single table.

Yeah, I mean there is still lag, but it has gotten to the point where if you weren't looking for it, you might not notice it. Multi-ball mode is where lag (even a tiny amount) hurts most. Still very playable though. $15 is premium pricing for sure; I mean, you'll get $15 of fun out of it, but when the brand new TEXAS CHAINSAW is going for $6, $15 does seem steep.

@@evilgeniusentertainment I actually keep track mentally of how many times I've played these tables. I'm up to 30 times on Star Trek? Fifty cents a game! And yes, multi-ball and lag are a bad combination. But I'm at the point in my mid-60's that my reflexes make multi-ball challenging at the best of times.

So what’s your opinion on the 1970s home pinball scene like Fireball, Aspen, Alive!, Star Explorer, Flying Aces, Big Top and such? I am currently restoring and upgrading a Star Explorer home game. I learned in a discussion that most people look down on working on these believing them to be junk. They use authentic parts and are user friendly for modifying and repairing, so I like them personally.

All pinball games - even smaller tabletop versions - are fun. Better yet, they're also works of art and reflect the culture at that moment. Actually almost bought an ASPEN pin last year! I think people restoring old pins are doing us all a great service; so cool to see an older pin in nice condition.

thanks for showing these two off. Star Trek TNG looks great! Have you tried using a PC yet for it, how does it work on the 4kALP?

OTG works fine with the ALP4K, but you need a machine that can drive the table screen at 4K 60fps. It's not all that much really.

Nick - other then the initial testing to make sure it worked, I haven't messed with OTG. I have another DIY rig that I play Steam/VPX/FP games on, so no real need personally to run it. BUT, I do plan on doing a VPX 10.8 build on a mini-pc using OTG soon....

Yeah, they do say "up to 4K" resolution in places. What's weird is that they should be able to do a true 4K image of the playcard falling out of bed. I get the feeling that the ST:TNG & Twilight Zone games were simply uprezzed from the HD versions. Hopefully we'll see AG tweak these games as time goes by.

Why are people buying the 4k version given a lag with the flippers? I would argue that they need to stop selling until they get the lag fixed? Am I crazy?

Well, the lag is quite minor. It's still there, so I feel like I have to report it, but it is not a deal breaker for most. And it's only the Zen games that exhibit lag. And there's the hope that Zen works it out (hopefully sooner than later). And you can still run OTG as well - so lots of reasons why you might want to buy.
