Why someone with your obvious passion and commitment hasn't got more subscribers is beyond me. I'm excited about the sport quattro build.

🙏💙 thank you. Means a lot, makes the hard work behind the scenes worth while. Small steps forward is better than not starting at all.

I don’t what it is about these, maybe it’s that a mini metro is such a left field choice. Whatever it is I love ‘em.

Interesting comment about the welding on the replica being more pleasing to the eye . Having worked in sheet metal fabrication and bearing in mind that the car was designed by williams formula using cad the size and position of eah weld would have been stress calculated. and when inspected if the welds were not in spec the car would have not have left the factory. It might not be the most pleasing to the eye but its the design team not the welder who are the ones who call the shots and dont forget on a production car seam sealer plays a big part in making things look neat . Another factor is all 200 odd cars were not ment for team use only a few were works cars the rest were built to get the numbers right so the car was eligable as group B

Will be great to see how this turns out, i think with the rarity of these and other Group B machines the replicas are a great idea, even if you had an original it would be nice to have a replica so you don't have to worry about it as much cause you can get parts easier.

Love your video! Love both cars! I believe you're the best specialist to clarify some of my doubts in 6R4 subject I am in the process of building Metro 6R4 1/24th scale replica. I have been through thousands of Metro photos and there're some areas still not fully clear to me. For example tank filler cap: There's two places on both sides of the car for fuel filler cap- is the other one just a blank plug painted over (on the right hand side)? Another enigma for me is battery. On some photos 6R4 battery is placed in the boot at the front, on some of them battery is mounted inside the car behind pilot seat next to the ECU unit . I hope you would easily clarify my confusion in above matters :)) Many thanks in advance!!!!! All the best with your projects!!!!!

I would love to see more of how the replica is built, and do they supply it in a kit for a retirement project for me to build. 😀

What's a rough starting cost for one build ? Brilliant that these monsters live on and many better than the real thing, as in better tec.

back in the day a car showroom near my house had a genuine factory 6R4 on display, Davidson FORD Shiremoor if anyone remembers them, it still is a car showroom but no longer owned by Davidson, anyways, I sat in it and I couldn't believe how cramped and sparse it was, the cage was like a climbing frame to navigate through to sit in it, The V64V engine was open throttle body as I remember the intakes had plastic covers on them so nothing could fall into the carbs, it was painted in the Rothmans livery of blue and white and looked amazing, I ended up buying a metro, seeing that 6R4 car made an impression on me that swung my decision to buy one I think,

If the "replica" has 1000bhp it seems superior to me? If it doesn't have 1000bhp maybe a second engine would do the trick?

If you have access to an original you could hire a laser scanner (Faro do this) and measure every surface and have the data on CAD. You can then reverse engineer the tooling and the kit car. 😀
@superliegebeest5449 ай бұрын
Exactly, and 3d print the fenders and hood ect. Adapt all the changes u make to fit everything in cad first. But most handy people have a lot of tricks due to experience to copy things while adapting on the fly. And I think that's what they get their joy from. The bolting or welding it selve not so much. But the figuring out the solutions to the problems part.

But the speed3 car is nothing like an original. We wanted as close as possible, not one that is only 50% correct. I looked at lots of kits before deciding it was better to build my own 🤷♂️
