George wrote the sax riff and he went through 10 sax players before finding the perfect one! Incredible to think that he wrote, and arranged this song at the tender age of 17. Now streamed over 1 billion times and this year this song will be 40 years old!!! His background singers that were with him for over 30 years along with his contemporaries, such as Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney said he possessed one of the most beautiful live voices of all time. His live voice was like no others!

George Michael has a very long and successful career. After his Faith tour he stepped back from touring and promoting, which affected his career in the US. In Europe he was still huge.

One of the best songs ever written in my opinion. Lyrically it is poetic but the instrumentals are incredible, especially the sax, which was a popular instrument in the 80's. George's voice is perfection on this song. George wrote this song while still with the group WHAM! but this was his first solo and this is really when he was ready to go it alone. I saw Georg Michael live when he was solo and he was amazing. Vocally gifted live and sounds just like his music. He was a great entertainer and a tormented soul, which many of the great artists are. RIP George! Most iconic sax solo is from the song "Baker Street" by GERRY RAFFERTY who is another brilliant artist to check out.

George Michael is the greatest singer ever. And you will come to know this when you ll listen his album 'Older' n react on song like Fast Love or Praying For Time. In 'Fast love' s video he had predicted this Tinder culture in late 90s and in Pryaing for Time 1990 released he completely predicted the covid 2020 as if he has come from time travle. React on both songs

You absolutely must see some of his live performances so let me give you some suggestions. The Concert of Hope in 1993 for Princess Diana's AIDS charity, anything from that concert is stellar. Anything from his MTV Unplugged Session in 1997 - I would suggest Freedom, Star People, I Can't Make You Love Me are standouts but anything from that session would be great. His performance with Queen at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert of Somebody To Love is legendary. Every big star at the time was at that concert and George blew everyone else out of the water. His live performance with Elton John of Elton's song Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me is amazing. This was Elton's first appearance after getting sober so he was happy to George take the lead but they both sound so good together. Check some of these out. I have seen a lot of great concerts in my time but no one was a good as George was live. I have never heard the man sing a bad note...not ever.

Careless Whisper was originally produced by Motown legend, Jerry Wexler in Alabama. That version used to be available on YT. Check it out and you'll understand the level of GM's talent. Even barely out of his teens, GM had the conviction and confidence to realize that studio version was not the way he wanted CW to sound. He re-recorded the song, spending $250,000 of his own money. Auditioned 11 saxophonists before finding the one who could play it the way he heard it in his head for years ... having written the song at 17 and believing it would someday be a hit. The rest is his legacy to all who love his music. Timeless. There's so much more to GM than his known and popular songs. As beautiful as his voice was, he was equally talented as a songwriter. He was 22 when he won the first of three Ivor Novello Awards for Songwriter of the Year. Check out "You Have Been Loved". That song will make the coldest heart bleed. Or "Fast Love". Or "Cowboy and Angel". Many singers might have one or two hits from an album. Every song that GM released is a gem, whether commercially successful or not. Because each song sounds different. Not the same-sounding song sung 10 times His first solo album, Faith, went #1 in 1987 and stayed there, surpassing Michael Jackson, Madonna and Prince that year. But it was his next album and later works that truly showed he was just at another level. Live ... he was peerless.

Wham UK was a Great pop group and George Michael was Phenomenal. I would say, George's fame was most successful from 82'-92' George had the 'IT FACTOR' when it comes to raw singing talent. There're is so many 🎷sax riffs in music. Kool & The Gang, "Too Hot"/Hall & Oats, "Man Eater"/Glenn Frey, "You belong to the city"/Duran Duran, "Rio"/Huey Lewis & The News, "The Heart of Rock n' Roll/Tina Turner, "We don't need another hero"(Thunder Dome)/Marvin Gaye, "What's going on?"/Squeeze, "Hourglass"/Sheila E., "The Glamorous Life" and the beat or sax, goes on!😉👍

For a sax song which is arguably more iconic, I have two words for you: Baker Street. To repeat what others have have written, George was well known and loved in Europe (and I believe Asia) well into the 90s and early 2000s, but the US is a hard market to develop if you're never touring or promoting; especially after his "incident" with the LAPD in the 90s, he kind of left the US market. And yes, his voice in live performances was great

George composed the sax part first and then the rest. George wrote, composed and produced almost all of his songs himself and he played nearly all the instruments. But the biggest instrument was his voice. He will always be one of the greatest singer-songwriter of all time. He was one of the greatest - over more than 30 years - except in the USA - even after the 80s. In America, people resented his homosexuality. This double moral and narrow-mindedness is so disgusting and sad.

Even in the 80s it was hard to be openly gay. Imagine having to lie in your career... pretending to have affairs with other women in your music videos while you are actually gay, just to please your record company. That's pretty crap.
