@@ryanrivera5763 But what is your point? MLB is a business. Every franchise is a business. A small market business like Anaheim has to make money differently from the big market businesses. Fans should count themselves lucky that Ohtani came to the Angels on unique conditions, otherwise they are no different from Oakland. The only league that cares about the game and not about bottom line is the little league.

@@sleepyheadz The point is that if the product of a business is bad, then the business won't be as successful. Do you think Oakland would bring in the same amount of revenue as they are right now if they were making the playoffs every season? They would obviously be making more. The angels are being outperformed by several teams with much lower payroll. If you don't think a team's performance directly correlates to monetary gain via ticket and merchandise sales, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

@@canocano6675 Blake Snell was begging to pitch for us on a two-year deal. Montgomery was a one-year deal. Add those two or even lower level credible pitchers like a Wacha and you give yourself a chance in a division that is very winnable this year. Rotating three right fielders, second base and third base is stupid. Forcing draft picks to start in the major leagues after a few weeks in the minors stunts their development. Not getting anything for Ohtani when they could have literally rebuilt the entire farm system by moving him as Washington did Soto was malpractice. I need medication cheering for these guys.

@@bhbecca Snell has had a horrible start. We need a lot, and so one expensive SP in Snell definitely wouldn't have made a difference. We need a rebuild and investment into our farm system.

Realistically, are Angel fans expecting the team to be winning? If they couldn't even scratch .500 with Ohtani, how are they going to even be competitive without him? The early season sweep over the terrible white sox isn't evidence this team is suddenly good. So as fans, you win with substance, not hope. Knowing what your team is, gives you substance to place realistic hope on winning against other bad teams.

@@ryanrivera5763 Ryan, Snell was rushed to start and he was bound to get hurt. He didn't have the normal six week spring training. He threw for a few days and then they threw him into the rotation. But he's still the player they should have signed. And if you don't want to sign him, fine. But they needed to add starters of some kind, some how. They traded no one. They were happy with everyone. It's ridiculous.

This is a yearly comment for the last decade. At this point, they can no longer be a disappointment. This is who they are.

Disappointment? That would mean you had unrealistic expectations. They won 73 games last year and lost their best offensive player and best pitcher. They got nothing for Ohtani and didn't sign any replacements.

As an angels fan, my expectations were a 60 win season, so far so good. We haven't been to the playoffs in a decade, haven't won a playoff game in 15 years, and haven't had a above .500 season in 9 years

The only disappointment is the A's are now above the Angels. Other than that, it's business as usual.

Ward has never been a good outfielder. He doesn't hustle or make diving plays, and his arm is weak.
