Watched it last night, it was a blast!! The movie is playing in a Top Gun territory allowing characters driving to drive the story with the spectacle as a background. I would not say its perfect, maybe too much exposition in a few parts but overall solid film, I can see it making a lot of money.

It’s being thrown out there so Willy nilly now. It’s just a sequel. Reboots are suppose to be a retelling of the same story that has no continuity from anything previously released

They could have. They wanted the lead to be the daughter of her and Bills characters, they could have done with without teally changing what they did and not making its cliche. But she had pitched an idea for a sequel not long ago and if you see what she pitched it would have absolutely bombed and pissed many people off.

I was thinking this could be another Eternals where the director of an arthouse film directs a blockbuster which gets critically panned like how Chloe Zhao directed Nomadland and then followed it up with Eternals and then we got Lee Isaac Chung going from Minari to this. But the trailer made me think "how could this be bad? It looks harmless fun" but still considered the fact it could be bad. I want to like it and I really hope I could.

They kept it simple. Plot had many elements borrowed from the original. But they didnt overdue it to the point where it was annoying. They had good twist and turns in it. The cgi didnt come across with fatigue like i get from Marvel movies now. Shot it on actual film which i think definitely made it more aesthetically pleasing. They made a simple 90s style movie in the present time. I think of it more as a good soft reboot. Many story elements are reused but new characters and it acknowledges the events if the original briefly so you know if you saw the original its not just ignoring it. No crazy politics, just a fun story that you can go grab a soda and popcorn and forget about all the stuff going on outside for 2 hours.

It seemed more of a requel/soft reboot. Borrowed many elements and plot points from the original but the characters have enough differences to separate themselves.

Just saw it in New Zealand and if you enjoyed Jurassic World Dominion I’m sure you will enjoy it. Still shocked they didn’t use any of Mark Mancina’s musical themes and just blasted country music and fiddle hijinks music through it instead. None of the tension and suspense of the original.

They often have early screenings in certain places were they invite movie critics and members of the media like youtube reviewers to watch. And get the word out so when it premieres worldwide. You will often see theaters do it under a “early release” title.

The CGI wasn’t actually that bad tbh. I enjoyed it more than the overused crap fatigued CGI they use in most modern movies. They filmed it on actual film which i personally think CGI blends better with.

I didn't like it. I also don't know why their not calling it a reboot, they copied a bunch of the same scenes from the original with minor tweaks. If they did lean into it being a reboot, I don't think I would've been so annoyed with them copying certain scenes from the OG albeit with minor changes. It's a reboot, not a sequel, not original either. and yes there is a forced romance and even an awkward love triangle to boot. Wait a minute, I'm sorry .... that was in the original too!

Its a soft reboot. Many elements borrowed from the original, while have new characters and acknowledging the original happened. They borrowed to much to call it a standalone sequel but changed enough to not call it a full on reboot.

I did not care for the original Twister but much like killer animal movies I have a real soft spot for natural disaster movies, and so whenever a new one comes out I’m always crossing my fingers for it, hopefully this one just doesn’t have 90% insufferable characters like the original movie did
