@@friendly_neighborhood_idiot No, twitch is the winner here. Thor gets money to play ads he doesn't want to play so he buys subs with the money he's paid so people don't have to watch the ads. Twitch on the other hand pays Thor to run ads he otherwise wouldn't have, then he uses the money they gave him to buy subs and they only have to pay him half the money for the subs he bought so half that money goes back to twitch plus now the people who are subbed now get a taste of not having any ads so they'll feel compelled to keep paying for their subs themselves or get way more ads, it's a win win for twitch, a small win for Thor, and a temporary win then lose for the people who gets a free gift sub, whether they keep paying for the sub or just deal with getting way more ads afterwards. Whichever way you look at it twitch gets both what they paid for and some of their money back, plus now more people are conditioned into paying for subs.

@@HarleyAMV yes, but since none of the ads are being watched, the "businesses" are not getting coverage.. that means they will look for other advertisers than twitch, and twitch loses in the long run, since a big chunk of their money is advertising. And thor and his viewers get at least a couple of months of free money/subs they didn't ask for.. so who wins in the end?
@HarleyAMV5 ай бұрын
@@reman81 You're so close to understanding what you're talking about but just hit the mark. Advertisers don't have to pay for ads that no one sees. If everyone gets a sub, Twitch makes more money than they would from advertisers. But not everyone gets a "free" sub from Thor, so some people DO get ads and because they paid Thor, those people get more ads than usual. If every single person that used twitch had at least one sub twitch wouldn't need advertisers (though they'd probably still have them since it's "free" money) Twitch always wins. More subs = More money. More ads = More money. And part of the money they pay Thor, is used to by twitch subs, which they keep 50% of... so they get part of the money back. That's not even mentioning how they can deduct the money they pay Thor on their income taxes, in fact because of them paying Thor, they basically don't have to pay any taxes on the money they get from the subs he buys with their money from them. Most of the money just goes back into the pocket of Twitch, how can you not see this as a massive win for Twitch?

This is not the reason. Companies pay twitch for them to run ads, and twitch is paying him to run ads which he will. No one sees the ads but everyone is payed what they are owned. At most this is the reason why the paying company isn't making money.
@Predated25 ай бұрын
@@ubiquidade Yeah, tbh, its shocking how Twitch still has a lot of company customers paying for ads. Like, I bet the conversion rate is horrendous. Companies paying for the super bowl, for example, expect to have a 75% return on their investment in increased sales (so, running a loss), or hope their ad goes viral, which, if they are lucky, turns into a 7500% return on investment. The superbowl is basically the ad lottery. With other ads, the return on investment is expected to be 120%. So they expect to have about 30% more sales (doing all the maths, this number is more accurate than it seems, basically, 100% investment on product compared to 90% on product and 10% on advertisement, getting them 90+30% for 120% sales). On Twitch, I heavily doubt it gets even close to a reasonable number since people absolutely despise the ads on twitch. On KZfaq, even with their current ad-heavy conquest, the ads are at least bearable and there are some where you are like "yeah, maybe not now, but I might want that product through that company in like 2 months".

@@NegniwretIf the ad is longer than 5 secs or can't be skipped I'll hate the product and the company, otherwise I'll concede.

@@Predated2I'm definitely curious about some of these numbers, I've always felt that we're so oversaturated in ads these days that they have minuscule returns/conversion, but maybe I really truly underestimate the average consumers resilience to adverts.
