To your introduction to monetization. As Marco from Nightwish wrote in his letter of departure, the bands don't get any of this money. The recordcompenies swallow it all. He wrote that in a very angry tone about these injustices. Affectionately, he said that you lose the desire to do something in this business.

Tommy Karevik is such a great singer. I love his original progmetal band Seventh Wonder. Mercy Falls is an astounding album. I first heard Tobias Sammet in Edguy like 1998, they replaced Hammerfall at a local festival. Been a fan of Edguy and Avantasia ever since. Ayreons albums are all conceptalbums. Into the electric castle tells a story of people from different historical times trapped in space. (sort of like that). The Human Equation tells a story of a man in a coma who talks to his different emotions portrayed by the singers. Super simplified but listen to it if you wanna know the whole story :) Its a double album, great story, great music. 01011001 (Y in binary) is about aliens, water, dinosaurs dying and a whole lot of explosions. And SPACE! Theres more, but those 3 are my favorite Ayreon albums and i know allmost every song by heart.

Next I would suggest reacting to the performances at Ayreon Universe concert, especially the following Intergalactic Space Crusaders, River of Time, Merlin's Will, Valley of the Queens, Ride the Comet, Star of Sirrah, And the Druids Turn to Stone, Age of Shadows & Everybody Dies. Here is a list of the singers in order of appearance: Arjen Lucassen - Songwriter, multi-instrumentalist musician(guitar, bass, organ & analog synth) and record producer best known for his long-running progressive metal/rock opera project Ayreon. James Labrie - Lead singer for Dream Theatre. Tommy Karevik - Lead singer of Kamelot. Tommy Rodgers - Lead singer of Between the Buried and Me. Simone Simmons - Lead singer of Epica. Nils K. Rue - Lead singer of Pagan's Mind and also worked with Eidolon. Tobias Sammet - Lead singer of Edguy & Avantasia. Hansi Kürsch - Lead singer of Blind Guardian. Mike Mills - Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and main songwriter for Toehider. Russell Allen - Lead singer of Symphony X. Michael Eriksen - Lead singer of Circus Maximus. Aryeon isn't really a band but a collaboration of performers chosen by Arjen who picks from his rolodex of 300 performers to fit the roles that he creates in his rock operas or sci-fi extravaganzas.

I thought it was too soon to introduce you to Ayreon and this song 😂 Arjen Lucassen, also Dutch, is the mastermind behind Ayreon. He writes rock opera’s and dream theater and then invites musicians from all over the world whom he admires to join his project. They are great artists, all of them. If you like it check out the Universe live concert they did in the Netherlands, the whole concert is amazing. For sure you will enjoy it! It features Floor and her sister Irene Jansen! Good songs are: Merlin’s will Dawn of a million souls Valley of the Queens Everybody dies Age of shadows and The eye of Ra

I would also totally recommend taking the time to listen to an album cover to cover for your own personal journey with the band because, yes, they literally are Rock Operas, and they go so much better together. Micheal (yes, Micheal , not Michael, we are in prog originality here) Mills is one of the most versatile musicians I've ever heard. Listen to his solo project Toehider (and when I say solo it means that he plays or programs every instruments, a monster), he shows his amazing range in almost every songs, even one with a legendary C6 (I'm not that much of a range planet guy to class singers but it's still impressive)

Arjen gets the idea, then gets the vocalist and then he writes the part to suit the voice and character of the musician - sometimes taking them out of their comfort zone - but it works so well.

In addition to picking up this CD, pick up the DVD of Ayreon's Universe. Trust me :). Massive group of folks including a lot of these singers & musicians doing a kind of greatest hits of Ayreon's music from all his projects. Simply amazing concert man.

You could just stick with more songs from this album, the source - all the characters are singing in different songs. By the way - I am pretty sure that Arjen Lucassen will see you reaction - and he might respond!! Arjen is a great great guy, great composer, musician and very at responding to reactors that are pro like you. I believe Arjen has been working with around 100 different singers from all over the world, during his different projects. Another cool thing - Arjen sometimes gets the inspiration from his listeners to continue the story👍

Ayreon is here. I‘m here. Fan for over 20 years now. Funny thing that I noticed today. I found Floor through Ayreon / Star One. I guess Arjen giving the opportunity to singers to be on his album really payed back through Floor now she’s in Nightwish. And that’s well deserved

I would love to recommend some Avantasia (the Band of the "cocky captain" Tobias Sammet). It's also more of a project with many different Metal and rock singers. Maybe do "The Scarecrow" (live at Wacken Open Air) feat. Jorn Lande, it's a great start to Avantasia.

For me Arjan is the Mozart from the modern times, because he’s not afraid to use old classics or go in a new musically direction. His creativity is huge and you think about all these musicians who joined him for so many years already , great! It’s not singing only, is acting also to. I love it and do you know, I never expect it as an former soul dj (68) from the 70’s to appreciate this kind of music.

Yes, this is like "who is who" in prog metal. More of an achievement of gathering amazing musicians than a song. And the backstory is totally "fantasy mambojambo". "Space rock opera", if you will. But anyway a great spectacle that Ayreon shows usually are. Nothing bad in that, but maybe not my cup of tea. As far as l know, Arjen Lucassen must be a very nice person. He's very informative to the fans and it's impressive how he can get all these talents together. And by the way, he's the only human in this galaxy, who is taller than Floor (but nobody has larger mouth than her's)💗😜😅. So Peace to all mankind here on earth and all the other galaxies. ⛄🌍🌌🚀

I’d recommend “Everybody Dies”: hear Mike Mills reach those high notes, the duet between Tommy Karevik and Hansi Kürsch, the rasp of Maggie Luijten, the great backing vocalists, the insane production... and Floor’s whirl onto the stage! You need to check, Ayreon universe (is a live version of Ayreon... And i think that was a little imposible, but Arjen make it possible) , the theory of everything , Mike Mills and Marcela Bovio they both are amazing singers. You will love Arjen's music. Most of it is like a rock operetta of a musical play. Loved your analysis and reaction to this wonderful composition from Arjen Anthony Lucassen. Another Dutch genius. That was him playing the guitar parts. I think you would be amazed at some of his musical creations. They are so much fun. You need to react to some of his live performances. He uses some amazing singers of all types. Peace my friend.

Ayreon is my second favorite band now! Arjen A. Lucaasen is Brilliant! That's why he's able to get such amazing talent. Floor has sung in Ayreon since she was 16 years old. Russell Allen does not gargle glass! 🥲 He's a Fantastic singer! If you go see Trans Siberian orchestra he's gonna n there!!!

Hooray, Ayreon. You discovered a rabbit hole here. See Wikipedia for all the very well known musicians that worked with Ayreon on the several albums. Lul is Dutch slang for dick. After this, listen to the two live concerts: Ayreon Universe Live (with Floor and Marko) The electric castle live and other tales (with Simone Simons) There’s also a theatrical performance of the album The human equation called The Theatrical Equation. Floor Jansen’s sister Irene sings in it.
