I was just talking about these boats to my dad, it was funny mentioning how awesome they are. He's ex navy and said 20 footers? He's been in 70 footers, and said now that's scary. LOL. Man our navy boys are a tough bunch. Thanks for your service

Looks Good in the Rough Atlantic The Bow could do with a little outward rake as dipping a little to much when running in heavy swell, Apart from that an excellent craft from one who has battled the Atlantic.

I can make a design for boat to go through the baddest weather ever. It’s never been used before and it’s so simple. My design is to go through it not up and down. From a Cook Islander

I was just wondering could one of these boats stand a storm like the movie The perfect Storm and what about that killer wave at the end could it survive that
@strofimios Жыл бұрын
A buoy off the coast of Nova Scotia reported a wave height of 100.7 ft (30.7 m) at the time of that storm.That is a mountain of water not a wave.Don't think that any vessel can cope with that.

I went through 40+knot similarly sized seas in my 40 ft cat (21 ft beam with none of that drama??? My engines were small kubota saildrives that would push me at 7knots comfortably and I surfed perfectly in full control at 19 knots running dead downwind as well as 30 degrees port tack and starboard tack on power alone. Drama queens abound, and those seem to be of that configuration. Contact me if you want something like my boat. 1600km using a tonne of diesel fuel. 4500kg ready to go.

OK. It has rough water capabilities. But what can it deliver armament wise? And would loading it with an effective weapons system compromise its seagoing characteristics? Otherwise what does it do...pop up unexpected in the middle of the night in some foul weather and go "Boo"?

I'd like to see a shoot off between a 47 footer and one of these on the Columbia River bar. These are killing machines, and we need lifesaving machines. I don't see any provision for rescue and recover on these boats.
@barnacleify8 жыл бұрын
Very true, Alan. But I was thinking more of the multi roll that the Coast Guard is involved in. They do almost everything their big brother gets to do. But that shoot off would be very interesting.

Yawn, my 5.3 meter zodiac hurricane could do that easy. Full self bailing if it takes on water, impossible to sink and I've had it full of water (yes full as in water spilling over the tubes and in under 3 seconds the water was gone with self bailing). Plus self righting if it does flip and clips into the hull do you can't get thrown overboard. Hurricanes are designed to last well past human capability. When I see a wake that just means more power!
