They are brilliant at bunching long wood in the bush for the Skidder and on the skid a good operator is invaluable. Particularly fast at sorting posts and poles etc.

@Train Nerd They can be very efficient sorting logs on a skid site. Very quick. The Super Bell was bigger and more powerful. Great for loading posts or longwood Pulp etc.

@Train Nerd One bloke i worked with took the back wheel off. Just got in the way he said. He was amazing on them. He weldeda skid plate on instead. The odd joint or two got him through the day.

A smaller rear tire on the rusted one would help it a lot to reduce tilting. You could fill it up 80% with liquid too.
@tdmjason
@tdmjason 6 жыл бұрын
michaelovitch how would that help?? And if your going to put sodium chloride or whatever in the tire a smaller tire won't be better for that..make no sense.

A rear smaller tire would reduce the rake,so it would not lean forward as easily. More weight in the rear (tire) would do the same also.while not creating a load on the axle.

I think I'd be getting a better unloading system.. and that lumber looks like it needs to go to charcoal or mulch. That shit does not look good at all.

I have been around these as a buncher, wild ride, they had 2nd wheels to put on each side for step hill cutting, you cut the tree run forward like hell and dump it over, before it dumps you,, lol
@TheMetalButcher
@TheMetalButcher 7 жыл бұрын
I can't imagine one of these as a buncher. They are hilarious to me. Always to ass-light for the job, yet always get the job done. They must work harder than about anything, pound for pound. I'm almost surprised the bothered with a rear wheel it's touching so little of the time lol.

The Metal Butcher oh trust me the do have them to this day as a bunchers. the operator grabs the tree cuts it off and you run with the tree an trow it well on the forward run.. they are wild.. but cut a shit load of trees in know time. the back wheel is never on the ground much. next time I see the guys I'll take a vidio of it and up load it..

Those log stackers are really poorly designed. The font is too heavy and that's why they flip so easy. All the weight from the lift needs to be in the back. These damn things would NEVER make it in the US timber industry.
@unhippy1
@unhippy1 6 жыл бұрын
And most of the things used in the US timber industry don't survive for long where these things are operated when subjected to the same level's of constant overloading and various other forms of operator abuse. That tipping over forwards means that it is impossible to mechanically overload the frame and lifting arm.

Meanwhile in the 80's and 90's they were all over the timber industry. They fulfilled a role until the technology inproved. These were feller bunchers originally and then modified as you see them here. A good design for their time and great in the bush for falling and grouping trees for the skidder. (Their intended purpose)

I used these in South Africa to move pulp wood logs from truck/train to stack - more versatile than most system and built to suit African situations
