We actually heard that joke one the dock while watching them patch the hole, We were on the Legend. Felt more like a wave hitting us then a collision, barely noticed it. Then they called for Emergency Morning lines or something similar over the PA.

I was on Legend when this happened. Didn't feel a thing. Glad no one was seriously hurt. Thankfully we were able to leave that night as planned. I'm pretty sure the other boat was docked there for a while. As soon as we got out and saw it I couldn't help myself and said "NOW THATS A LOT OF DAMAGE! GET THE FLEX TAPE!" Laughed so hard when the guy said "Don't ride on Carnival." lol Technically not Carnivals fault, the tugboats at the dock had full control. But hey I'm not gunna argue!

@@yamahaguy1732 They are still sailing the ship, and passengers are still riding, just the dining room that got smashed is closed, because it would be dangerous for passengers to be in there. The room will be reconstructed sometime later.

"DON'T RIDE ON CARNIVAL" You know it was a local Mexican port pilot that was piloting the ship, right? It's that way for most foreign ports. The ship's crew are not the ones in command of the ship during porting. I was on this same ship a week ago to the day, pulling into the same port. They drop off the pilot via a small Pilot boat (briefly seen behind both ships in this video) which follows the ship into the port. The area that was damaged was the aft dining room main and upper levels. The comedy club is directly above, but it didn't appear to sustain any damage.

I can understand the guy steering the ship can't see what the stern is doing but I presume somebody was supposed to watch it and notify him if there was a problem.

If they sold it to the news networks they probably only got up to $1,000 or 1500 at the most for it . But if they had held off for when it's time to go to court and if they realize that maybe nobody else has the footage they have they probably could have gotten a lot of money for that footage

It was only 1 ship moving, the 2 others where docked. You can see that clearly on some other videos.

Me and my wife were on that ship a few months before that happened. The crew was very rude and the service was sub-par.

It's not the ~$1mil in repairs that is going to hurt Carnival here. It's the ~$10million in opportunity cost they're going to lose while the $1mil of construction is getting completed.

Christa McDuell you may be right in that statement, but the food and service onboard is definitely better. Our ship, the Nieuw Statendam looked way better than the Oasis of the Seas when they were both docked together at Nassau in my opinion
